It may or may not have been mentioned but white is an exceptionally rare colour for an e46 m3 and commands a premium amongst the BMW community

Crazy price but I thought comedy pricing was compulsory since early 2015. Octane beats the Viz hands down - hilarious

It seems silly now but in 10/15 years time how many will be around, my brother & I are looking to buy one soon, from what I've seen we'll probably be spending 15-20k but we are looking for a particular type.

The M3 price is pretty silly for an M3 but I guess for a minted collector that wants an auto, it could actually sell. The other e46 cars are a total joke on the other hand, who wants to spend silly money on those stters?

So non M cars are 'stters'?

50k and the cheapest looking tyres they could find to put on it.

Also, about 10k more than the new price.

Hexagon bought that white M3 with just under 2k miles on it from a guy in Ireland IIRC. Paid £20k for it.
How long ago though? I'm sure its been up for sale for 3+ years
It's certainly over 3 years. Hexagon couldn't sell the car at £29k, then £35k then £39k. Seems that if something isn't selling, you'd best put the price up.
Looking at an old posting on another forum about this same car, it seems it was being advertised by Hexagon for £40k in August 2013.

I thought that too, there's nothing more annoying than traders selling performance cars at top money with cheap & nasty tyres fitted.

On closer inspection, it seems there are actually Michelin Pilot Sports on the white M3. The current Pilot sports look nothing like this, so these could well be its original tyres. Not really a problem as it is likely to spend the rest of its days as a static object.

Someone's got to pay for their swanky new premises.

Sadly stuff like this pushes up prices of average examples beyond realistic levels.

They will get sold though, E46 is a pretty design and will look good under the showroom lights.

Obviously a top notch example, but seriously, that price is crazy! I guess if there was a performance car from your childhood you liked, better get it now before prices get out of control.

The 14k one has a different coloured bonnet and wing.
Not surprising. They don't have a great reputation.

I once had the misfortune of buying a car from there. It went back fairly quickly.

It's no 1.0 Corsa from 1994 but for £20k it is indeed a stter (imo of course). You would have to be out of your mind to spend £20k on an e46 325i.

Haha, Hexagon. Say no more. I done my BMW apprenticeship there many years ago. Was only wondering the other day if Paul Michaels was still alive etc. Would love to hear from some ex/Hexagon employees again. Some I still keep in contact through Facebook.

I'm genuinely baffled by some of the prices that are being bandied about for some of these cars. Ultimately pricing comes down to what someone is willing to pay for it, but I feel like it is artificially inflating the market.

I get that something rare generally results in a higher value, but there is nothing special about a white smg car. Its simply a rare colour combo no different from Estoril manual. I mean its not even a CS. It's essentially one of 5855 RHD UK other SMG coupes made over the 5 years it was for sale.

A bit of digging suggests that there were only 11 Alpine White 3 cars made for the UK. It's understandable though, it's not really a great colour for that car. And I'm a firm believer of the E46 M3 being one of the best looking M cars ever produced and definitely the best looking M3.

I don't really know what you would do with it, especially at that price. As it's not sold for donkeys years at a now 2.5 times the price, there clearly isn't that many punters looking for this combination. If you put miles on it it's gonna tank in value, so why not buy a much cheaper well sorted CS and bank the change instead to begin with?

I also don't really get the target customer either, if you have the readies to quite easily drop 50K on an M3 that isn't really rare by any means, surely that 50K could be put to something different?

I really hope the market gets a correction soon as it's getting ridiculous.

Those tyres don't look OEM to me.

Surely the M3 left the factory with the contis that were made specifically for that car?

If so why would they require different tyres after such low mileage?

I wonder what "With full BMW service history" means in the context of this car. I know it'll probably never be used in anger, but is there just a single running-in stamp in the book or has this car had a proper service every couple of years to ensure everything is tickety-boo?

tyres that are on are the first Michelin Pilot Sports. also, it failed its first MOT!smile

minor items but a fail. last MOT expired November 2013 so been sat around for 3 years somewhere. probably where it is now gathering dust and 10k per year.

It's rare because it's boring and hardly anyone chose it when new. It looks like a Worcester boiler on wheels. And an 11 year old highly strung engine with 2300 miles on it, no thanks.

Leaving cars laid up like this with no fluid changes or heat cycles doesn't do any good at all!

Irrelevant if you never drive it I suppose, but I would expect to see more issues with this than a well maintained moderate mileage one.

It's a museum piece. Like a shark in a tank of formaldehyde, instead of being a living thing.

Except instead of being a rare and impressive beast like a shark it's a more common and less impressive mackerel, albeit an albino mackerel.
