HA20 KSA is currently Sorn'd with the last V5C issued 08/01/23

I would still run a mile from it.

The bit I find odd is "I'm moving abroad, but the Reg No isn't included", so you're going to sell a not particularly valuable personal plate separately then are you or is it going onto another vehicle & you're not "moving abroad" at all!?!.

Hi all sorry for the late reply,
as a new person to the site I was only allowed to respond to 5 post then waiit 24 hours till I could post again
Thank you for all your responses, most saying avoid,
I can give a bit more context,
Someone was correct, he is a mature Arab student 28 years old, was studying here, his course is now finished so hes left to go home. He said he has to have an opperation in is home country, I didn't know at the time when he said this that, that he was disabled, he has sent pictures of his passport, a resident permit to live in the uk, driving licence, disabled badge, the
Personalised number plate retention certificate, both copy's of the v5c one for the private plate one for the original number plate, copy of proof of purchase, a screen shot of the bmw app showing him logged in with the vin number mileage, car model, number plate ect,
I found him on linkedin as someone suggested,
I also contacted the dvla, as I can get the details up for the private plate but not the original registration, they said he needs to swap it over, tell him to do that then do another check. Only then go see the car as he will have the updated v5c. They seem to think everything is OK as both plates are registered to that car.
OK so to awnser the questions about why this car? its at my top budget of 27k and to go to a dealer or another private seller to get this spec would be 30k+
I know there is loads of other 4 series out there but not with the upgrades for this price.
Even after all that he's provided I still feel skeptical, if they guy is genuine I feel sorry for all I'm putting him through. 😄

He sounds genuine and the private plate (KSA = kingdom of Saudi Arabia) points to this fact.

Aside from DNA swabs and marrying him I am not sure what else you would want.

Don't be sorry for being cautious, it sounds like a typical scam story. He must realise that? If you're happy with the information provided then go for it, not sure what else you can do apart from view & test drive the car.

For what it's worth, if it were me (the sceptic), I'd save up a bit more and buy a car from somewhere else with less hassle or doubts.

They're being upfront.

I would do the deal at the registered owners address.

Last year I sold my Mum's car. A dealer bought it and I did explain who I was and all he asked for was a letter from the owner that gave me permission to sell it. I typed that letter myself and got one of my kids to sign it.
Whilst I imagine that was a sensible way of resolving a problem, it might have also been fraud. Technically.

Which is why obtaining power of Attorney is a discussion that needs to be had at the RIGHT time.
She simply gave up driving and has all her marbles, I simply sold it on her behalf, but I understand what you're saying

Am I right in saying that car is advertised since 20th Feb?

The last two cars I've bought, both through AT, were up for sale because the owner was moving. Funnily enough in both cases to USA......

I did get ID, and in both cases I spent £3 with Land Registry to check they owned the property they claimed to live at (obviously no good if they rent), also checked on Rightmove to verify their story that were renting their homes out.

Just need to do your research, and lots of it

Every chance it's genuine but I still wouldn't touch it. Buying a £27,000 car privately from a Arab student who isn't in the country and had to leave sharpish to 'have an operation'.. just doesn't sit within my comfort zone.

I would go for it.

Just make sure you transfer the V5 to yourself online before you send funds over, this is very important.

Just say as soon as the transfer is complete you will transfer funds, they can keep the keys until the money is received. But you then know that the V5 is the current one and it is now in your name.
This is not proof of ownership, but if the transfer won't go through you will know to walk away.

I needed a car until I moved abroad and so had to leave it with a friend to sell.

I did all the initial communication, but was up front about the fact I was abroad and someone else would do any test drive and the handover.

Had a couple of tyre-kickers, then one genuine chap who came to see it, took it for a test drive and then bought it. I only introduced my friend and shared his contact details when he wanted to see it. The car was being kept on the drive at my UK house which probably helped as this was the address on the V5.

Just adding this to say it’s not necessarily dodgy. Good luck!

I’m not sure I’d risk that much of my own money, but it’s not a black and white scam IMO
