Pics of my XR4i, taken in 2008 with 325,000 miles on the clock!!
The old girl was completely standard apart from the cosworth grille, clear front & side indicators & the half smoked back lights.
325000 miles! At least you had your money's worth out of it. Pretty rare on a C-plate and a good spec as wellThe old girl was completely standard apart from the cosworth grille, clear front & side indicators & the half smoked back lights.

Sure did! I paid £900 for it in 1995, so served me well!
Still mostly selling for around that mark 15 years on....although there is a low mileage one up for 6k on the PH classifieds http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1498023.htm

Got a set of cheap lattice 15s for a while .....
....and then got a set of 310mm brakes cheap which necessitated 16s
C715FHK was a VERY special car.
At was a very late build by FMC, that featured all late model extras and was fitted out post factory with many accessory options like the 15" RS wheels, rear headrests and with the early model options like the heated front seats option, headlamp washers etc
A guy at Boreham Wood told me this when I was there years ago having heard about such car, when we were discussing the Mrs Ford Jnr XR4i too (auto, leather one-off).
Almost crashed my car when I drove past it in Bishops Stortford a few years back! Turned around quick to try and get driver to stop but no luck.
Then saw it in Classic Ford for sale, but at the time I was finalising my divorce and just couldn't buy it......
I always hankered after another C-plate XR4i (C681XVJ - registered November 85) as I sold mine in 2000 which was last seen in a right state in Devon last year..

How come its on a J plate tho'?
Brand new XR4i shell + 1991 XR4x4 donor + SVA Test = Age-related J Reg.The car has the 2.9 and 4x4 from the donor, with full Koni/Chassis Dynamics suspension, Cosworth 4x4 brakes, and 3 door Cosworth grill, bonnet, wheels and bumpers/bodykit.
Interior is currently XR4i but with the late swoopy dash, centre console and electric sunroof.

My Dad took a red GLS in part-ex once, pretty sure it was a 2.9 AWD version, ex-Police if I remember correctly. Would have been around 1990. He brought it home for a few days and I was besotted!
My Dad had one of those. G888AWK was the reg. All the 4x4 running gear and Mt75 'box but with GLS interior. Great car, but not as good as the Sapphire 4x4 Cossie that followed.........OzzyR1 said:
I ran one in the 90's, was a stunning concours example until some dick smashed into the back of me while I was waiting at a red light. I was only 18 at the time and I loved it, but there again any car you have at that age is brilliant.
Repaired it after the accident and sold it on - quite a funny story attached to that, bloke turned up on foot, paid cash and drove it away, nothing unusual in that as the notes weren't fake and and it was only £1200. Two days later I was staying at a mates house overnight, got a call from my folks to go home asap.
Was greeted by 2 coppers who had woken up my folks at 7am with the question "where was your son last night?" They told them I was out and still wasn't at home.
Car had been used in a ram raid and was written off at the scene, of course the DVLA hadn't processed the paperwork so it was still in my name. Spent a few hours at the station sorting that one out.
I've looked at them again too on occasion but reckon that if you don't buy a good one they probably aren't worth the money.

My old VTR went the same way, sold it to some chav from the vaaaaaaaalleys who then crashed it into a Spar shop, the day after I had sold it.
