£2800 for a 1.1 saxo, I'm 19 and have pass plus, as well as me having a tracker fitted to make sure I don't drive between 11 at night and 5 in the morning (they reckon thats the most dangerous time to drive, so if I don't drive a them times I'm less of a risk, was looking at 4 grand without it though).

36 years old driver, 12 years NCB, married, use of another car, social domestic, pleasure and commuting use of a 12 year old Mondeo.

Cheapest quote so far? £450. A mere 33% increase. I have 7 days to find a better quote.

Wow. I think it must come down after you have had a licence for 5 years as im quoted less than 1/2 that with 0 NCB on a fking R32

Sounds like you have gone out of your way to reduce it and it is still sky high. Crazy.

eta: the insurance per year must be much more than the cost of a 1.1 saxo these days.. I would go as an additional driver on your parents if I where you - NCB in not necessarily all that and certainly not worth £2800 a year on a 1.1

Nothing to do with 2 full fault accidents in 5 months..... honest
See, why is mine only half the price?

1998 Mondeo Ghia Auto
12 years NCB
3pts SP50 (4 years and 11 months ago - gah!)
No accidents or claims ever, been driving for 17 years.

And mine is £450. If you have had two claims in five months to my none in 17 years, have a more expensive and faster car and fewer years NCB (still not sure how you can make a claim and still have NCB, but never mind) why isn't mine the £250 I expect it to be?

I hate January.

I've got to MOT the sodding thing this month too.

I hope so, I want a 106 rallye by the time I'm 22 (saving up already) and insurance is still likely to be around £2.5k, for a nearly 20 year old 1.3 peugeot!

Someone insures a car properly and then you suggest fronting :/
That quote seems bad though I pay 1k less on my fiesta aged 18 without the tracker stuff

So you think he should pay £2800 per year insurance on a car which cost less than £600?

hehe I know what I would be doing in his position.

I'm looking at a little less than that per month for a MK2 at 19.

My highest car cost to insurance ratio was almost 7 - Vauxhall Viva HC, purchase price £50. Insurance cost (3rd party only, aged 19) £342. I still have the quote letter somewhere.

It's not fair but that's life
My car cost me less than £1000 and my insurance cost's £1800 if you cant afford to insure a car properly don't bother having one imo. Half reason insurance is so expensive for people my age is due to people not insuring properly in the first place.

I find it odd that for most of my quotes online, fully comp comes out cheaper than TP or TPFT...

For a car on my own £1440 fully comp and for my motorbike £1260 TPFT.

I'm 23, no point but no ncb frown always been named driver.

Then again I didn't exactly go for the lowest group insurance car ever. Or bike for that matter biggrin what can I say, I'm young and you only get one life......

Happened to me. I assume it's because a lot of younger drivers opt for TPFT and as such it carries a higher risk. It also implies, whilst not necessarily true, that you don't value your car and as such are more likely to crash.

Value of the car has little to do with it. Fronting just puts everyone's insurance up, not cool bro.

And greggy, your combined insurance premiums are higher than his! Madness.

Citroen C2 1.1, 18, £1900.
It should drop to about £1200 when I turn 19.

My mini has been SORN since March as doing work to it so only have the one insurance bill at the moment.
Now found footman james will insure be for around £7/800 on a limited miles policy as it's a classic with my modifications which is much more like it. Fiesta will go down to around £1200 next year looking when get my all important NCB.

On the car, £620, having dropped a heady £10 with an extra year of no claims.

On the bike, £100 this year.

Still vaguely recall £1400 to insure a Rover heap nearly 4 years ago now.

The cheapest I can find this year is £725 FC for the 323ci.

I Paid £600 for my 318i last year then an extra £36 for the 323ci for four months.

EDIT: I'm 21 with 4 years ncb. The cheapest policy I've ever had was £430fc on a focus at 20.
