I saw an i3 on the road for the first time today... funny looking thing and significant larger than I was expecting. It looked more MPV than supermini.

probably an optical illusion due to it's skinny tyres... a quick google shows it to be about 2 inches wider and 1 inch shorter than a fiesta

Admittedly most things look huge from my car, but still I find that surprising. It looked Vauxhall Meriva size and shape.

Still, it looked a lot less awkward in the flesh than it does in pictures. Disappointingly dull, in fact.

It will be interesting to see how they sell the used ones as leasing a new one makes more sense than buying it outright given the unknown residuals, battery fears, etc.

But when it is used you would have to buy it outright and just see how that has impacted the values of the used Renault EVs.

the Battery is certain to be useless in less then 6 months

and i am sure the battery is so toxic that you will be forced to pay a million pounds to dispose of it

So if anyone wants me to dispose of there 6 month old i3 I am willing to do it for free

I meant more in that (I suspect) the vast majority are leased rather than bought outright so the main issues that people may have are not really an issue.

The battery has a 10 year warranty on it but its more the residual value thats unknown at the moment.

and it is because of that unknown that i am happy to 'rent' it off BMW until things settle down a bit, was told by the sales droid that BMW are doing their best to set residuals by 'owning' as many of the cars as possible and controlling the second hand market, tbh i can see them having good residuals anyway as they do so many things well.

Has anyone looked at these in terms of funding through a business. For example I am part of a partnership, if I were to get one through the business with very little personal use, how do the personal tax and lease figures etc look then?

I have never had any kind of company car so have no idea about how this works!

I am leasing one through the business. Approx £400 per month based on 10,000 miles per annum over 3 years.
Zero benefit in kind in years one and two. 5% BIK in year three.

I think a lot of the look depends on the spec, whether it's two-tone and has blue bits on it or whatever. I saw a solid black one and it did look a bit anonymous. I saw one that was black on the bottom and a kind of burnt orange on top, that was nice.

Comparable certainly - if I didn't know what it was, I'd have assumed it was just another Vauxhall Meriva competitor.
