It was a bit knobby and not a manoeuvre I would have undertaken but, I'm not sure it was particularly dangerous and reading the story I think they are making a bit of mountain out of a molehill.

I don't understand why anybody rides horses on the roads (assuming they are being ridden for leisure purposes), it can't be very enjoyable and it seems very unfair on the horses to put them in situations that are obviously quite nerve-wracking for them.
1. Read the Highway code
2. Roads are not only for Cars
3. To get from one field to another ?

I'm sad. Up until yesterday I was a member of a dashcam group on facebook run by a couple of truckers.

One of the admin has a habit of putting up a load of his own pointless videos. A couple of days ago one of his own was not only pointless, but showed him to be driving badly.

A new rule was then made that to point out that an OP was driving like a twonk was abuse.

I may have overstepped my mark on this (politely) as they've kicked me out.

Oh well. Will watch this thread with interest.

Sounds like you're well out of that. What a rediculous rule! Surely some gentle abuse would encourage them to take it down and drive better? BAnning negative comments just encourages more really.

1. What's your point?
2. I'm well aware of that and very deliberately did not suggest otherwise. Personally, I'm very courteous towards horses and their riders on the roads.
3. Accepted, that might be a valid reason, as a non-horse rider I wouldn't know.

I take it you've never driven the Southbound A1(M) when it splits into the M1/A1...

While I was overtaking an MLM. Now that was a scary moment...

Every time I've driven this bit there's always someone who does a last minute change. The worst thing is, both roads lead to the same point so it doesn't even matter if you get it wrong!

That's my subjective opinion, has nothing to do with the highway code.

Edit. Just to reiterate, I'm not condoning what this driver did, I'm just suggesting that the complainant in the article is making the situation out to be much more 'OMG I nearly died' than it really was.

Why did the white car stop where it did?
the horse rider seemed to pull over to motion the lorry past
I took it that they went on the grass when they realised the lorry had got bored of waiting and was going to pass anyway.

Has the Mazda broken down? Surely wouldn't stop just over the crest of a hill to wait for the horse, you'd just slow down and pass.

To be fair if the white car has stopped and the horse has pulled in and you can see the rider turn around and look at the truck and back again, what is the truck to do but pass if no-one else is doing anything?
The horse didn't look phased by it

Way way close.....I cannot think it is a "subjective" point. You can be badly injured falling from a spooked horse onto tarmac very easily...it is quite a drop and a road is very hard.

Your reiterations are of course noted

You haven't actually addressed any of the points made.

Do you think that all horses being ridden on the road are just going between fields? rofl

Waiting patiently for 30 seconds would have been a good idea.

Rider is unsurprisingly turning round to see what's happening behind, but that's all. White car is indeed being a muppet by stopping there.

I'm not on Facebook. One of the main reasons is that I want to be able to 'down vote' people. Only providing 'Likes' means you'll only ever get 'positive votes' and I need the freedom to tell someone why they're a retard.

They normally start in one (or a stables) and finish in one.

I will leave the highway code reading to you.
