No I think 1/2 leather was an option, mine had the cloth and no sunroof

I guess you have never been a mechanic in a general car garage hehe Every button & electrical gadget still works fine on my 25 year old Landcruiser, ask me the same about my wifes Renault Master, window switches don't work, wiper stalks are iffy, radio is dead, the used 10 times in its life hazard switch that's exploded in bits twice! hehe or the French bits on her Volvo V40 (a Renault Laguna in drag) or Her V70 with a French steering rack, or the French made switchgear on my VW Lupo's thats st

It's a VERY well deserved reputation!

However an Avantime I could possibly forgive for its quirks
What about my long history of French cars....never had a switch go (except for dirt in it)
Never had a rack go
Have had the German made (BlPt) radios go x2
Had endless problems with the various Vauxhall company cars etc etc.....
My Dads BWM....the thing was crap, rear suspension, shocks, radio, etc
My Dads Passat.....the thing was an electrical nightmare
Brothers FIAT, utter crap, rust bucket and never a good earth

As said, 2nd hand you go by condition....anything can be good or bad ....
French cars are crap because a switch has busted and a steering rack has gone ?? come on be sensible

I don't think I've ever seen one of these (unless we've had it already and I missed it).

Beautiful looking car, reminiscent of the four seater Ferraris of that era.
It certainly is lovely, although a hint of a sort-of 2-door Granada or Cortina in profile?

Regardless, a lovely car and worth buying for the rear seats alone:

It would be great if that ended up in budget and wasn't a rust heap.
Seems it went for £10,800 when it was sold on 25-11-2015, according to this

I do love early S1 928's and I do like this one the teledials, the colour and that interior smile
Its in Southern Spain but he say's he can get it back to the UK (Its already UK registered) for around £600... Bargain or money pit?

That red one in Worthing is horrific.

I didn't check the early manual S as at alomost £8K it's over budget.

That Fiat is making me have crazy thoughts. 10K does sound a lot more realistic than 5 K, however.

You should look at it being in Spain as an opportunity.

I think that 928 is/would be a world of pain. Might be suitable for restoration and a complete strip-down and rebuild.

Yes, in might, but if you wanted to sink £30K into a complete resto on a 928 it would still be better to start with one that was nearer / easier to inspect, and had some provenance & history.

Have been looking at this ad. 928s are very tempting, especially in the chocolate brown and check interior smile but need bigger balls than me for that one though!!!

I have a soft spot for e39s and for velvet blue. This looks lovely but I have no need for it unfortunately and would be in a lot of trouble if it came home with me. Now, if it was a M5, then I'd accept living in the garage for a few months!!!

I was liking that, until I got to the interior. Velvet blue looks much better with the champagne leather.

Since Defender production has stopped I thought I would have a quick look at classic landies.

This one has a galvanized chasis so quite a bit of work has been done at some point. Paintwork is tatty but a couple of weekends rubbing down and a few tins of coach paint would rectify that.

Strongly agree with you there. I have the same problem with the two-tone leather M5 interiors

Quentin's onto these in this months Classic Car mag. Reckons the best ones will make 50K. Enzo's daily driver it seems.

I really disagree. Something quite different to the sea of black, brown or greys. Champagne leather is a real pain to look after, especially if you or your missus likes to wear new and/or dark denim. This would be perfect as a daily. Now to replace the e91 with this? Mmmmm scratchchin
