Thats worth £300 all day long in my opinion! Dont do the timing belt and just run it till it breaks/fails mot then break it for over £300
Assuming it doesn't pass another MOT £100 a month motoring? less if you count scrap value return.

A lovely 1993 190E 2.0 for £800

"I'm selling this 190e because it doesn't get used. I bought it in May as a runaround and have hardly used it so there's no point in keeping it. It has MOT til April 2016 and a folder full of service history and the original handbook.

I gave it a service soon after buying it, spending over £120 on parts, with paperwork to prove (Plugs, leads, air filter, oil filter, oil, fuel filter, distributor cap, rotor arm, coolant temp sensor).
The car is in good condition. There is absolutely no rust underneath and it has never been welded. Runs spot on and drives well. And the electric aerial still works! Comes with 8 hole alloys with good tyres, Kenwood CD head unit, and alarm/immobiliser.

OK bad points -
Vinyl door cards are doing the usual thing and warping at the top.
Rear windows have stopped working.
Central locking stopped working.
Paint shiny but could do with a polish to remove fine scratches.
I've investigated the 'exhaust leak'. Turns out there's a very small amount of fumes leaking from the manifold gasket or downpipe. It leaks when started from cold, but seals after 30 secs as it warms up. No funny smells at all."

The first four issues are so minor as to not be worth worrying about, and the exhaust leak issue wouldn't keep me awake for £800 either.

£250. MOT due soon, but looks reasonably tidy for the money. Assuming there's nothing major wrong with it of course. There is some cheap stuff about on Gumtree these days!

£525:

Bloke that works with my dad owned it but wasn't using it. He was going to advertise it for £800, my dad told me and I wanted it, but we've no space to keep it so he said to tell my uncle (who I work with) as he was looking for a toy / project to go alongside his company diesel.

Anyway 2 days later he'd viewed the car and got it for £525 with a fresh MOT (zero advisories).

I'm jealous. It's a lovely import, superb condition for the age. Mechanically sound, just needs a bit of tidying up. No serious exterior rust, just a tiny patch at the rear and a couple of dots on the sills / arches. Roof is mint, wheels and tyres are clean and true. Tan interior is good, the drivers seat centre panel has a rip that needs fixing.

But what a buy. He's already been offered £800 for it by a guy with a Mk1 track car he went to pick up a few parts from.

Keep that for the summer and it'll be worth £1500. Lucky bd.

The aftermarket parts cost pennies and sort the problem - I'd be much more worried about the DMF
Yep, DMF replacement on that engine is a nasty job.

Mine was *just* starting to go at 145k, my mechanic suggested I get rid. It was a pity really as I'd just had the suspension refreshed and the car was driving better than ever, oh well. Its replacement, an E90 320d, is doing well but I miss the Vectra.

If you get a good one they're perfectly pleasant. Problem is so many of them were sold that everyone knows someone with a crap one, IME!
I bought a 2007. 150bhp CDTI. Vectra C
700.00
Needed DMF.
Did the DMF, Clutch, etc.
Parts 300
Labour 200

Drives brilliant.
Steady run, 60 mph gives me 63 mpg, brim to brim

I still like the Vectra C. I wouldn't mind a good one.

Also, I may be contributing to this next week after I've seen an acquaintance about something he's selling but not advertising

Sounds great, but how can you do 63 mpg brim to brim at 60mpg, it is not logical? I think you mean 63 mpg on a run and average around xx mpg.

I assume so. Brim to brim on a cruise control 60mph trip could have turned out at 63mpg though

Yes,

My commute is 22 miles each way, just 1.5 miles of my 44 miles is A road.
regular get 60 mpg to each tank, thats over 710 miles per tank.
The 63.5 was not commute.
Amost all motorway for about 780 miles.
Say about 40 miles A roads

Spotted that on Autotrader a couple of weeks back, I'm surprised it's not sold yet, looks great for the price. There's something nice about the older Audis.

Plus one. I had one of these a long time back and really liked it. The styling has stood the test of time too I think. Great spot.
