I discussed this on page 71

This was my post.

"There was a number plate advertised on RT for £23.5k JAS 101N which is very close to mine JAS 107N and it some how got picked up on a Porsche web site.

The idiots on the site also were claiming is was worth about £100, £10 from one of the smart arse Porsche drivers .. My opinion is if you don't know what your talking about keep it shut".

Well I just went onto RegT and it's for sale again £23,495.. makes me smile
Not sure how it's relevant to this thread but anyway....makes me laugh too. You probably paid about what it's worth, £23.5k is just silly.

Unless I'm missing something here - is it supposed to look like Jason?

Well I think a plate that has an advertised price from one of the main sellers of 23.5k says it can go on here.

If you can't see what it supposed to say then perhaps you need spec savers. Do you drive a Porsche by any chance.

You clearly don't know how to value plates do you.

You realise that apart from maybe some of the dateless plates, all the plates on the reg plate sellers websites will be SOR?

So £23.5k is what some person is asking, probably won't be close to what it's worth or what someone is willing to pay.

It doesn't look like Jason. Anybody who thinks it does needs to go to specsavers.

It could look like JASIO 1N????

I wouldn't pay the transfer fee even if the number was free.

I do realize that yes...

But someone is not going to advertise a plate 23K over price are they, and I'm sure RegT or the like would have some control. So if I like the look of plate that's advertised in the 20k region does that mean my opening bid is £300. If that person selling the JAS 101N plate has his head in the clouds then so could the owner of every number plate on that site, they must somehow control the values.

Likewise if I saw the number plate JAG 1 because it has absolutely no concern.. It could be £500 and I don't want it,going on your login name you would.

So the 1,000 of people who have seen my number plate are all blind then... OK

If I had 100 people stand at look at the plate and see Jason but you can't... what does that say about you? I'll tell you.. you're the minority.

I was being fairly polite, this thread is supposed to be really good number plates spotted, it's not a really good plate (it's pretty naff IMO) and not spotted on a car so I don't see the point of your post.

I genuinely thought I must be missing something because the likeness to Jason is so slight I can't see it being worth a lot. If you think you're sitting on a £20k plate then I think you're deluded and I don't think I'm alone in that view.

Now, if you've seen a decent plate (actually seen in the real world) then post it up, otherwise go and argue how valuable your plate is elsewhere.

I'd like to think I had some idea of what I'm talking about, but others may disagree wink That plate is certainly not worth anything near to £20k. RegTransfers, like other dealers, will allow you to put whatever price you want on a registration, witness the infamous H15 LDN (a snip at £97k iirc) so just because a similar one is being advertised at a price doesn't instantly make yours worth that much. There won't be anyone enquiring about those numbers, the same as when someone asks a stupid price for one that we list - it simply stays on the website at that highly inflated unachievable price until they realise it's never going to get that price.
In my opinion you'd be lucky, very lucky, to achieve 5-10% of that price.
Either way, good luck with your sale.

It's "you're" not your.

Do let us know when this sells and how much it goes for then, I'm sure you're completely impartial and reasoned in your valuation.
