Why are people chastising the camera car exactly?
He was doing 26/27mph, there was a pedestrian crossing the street ahead moments before the coach decided to try and overtake.
What's more - this was A COACH FFS. The thought of overtaking anything in a coach unless on a motorway is nothing short of irrational. As said above - there was no way the coach would have made it without someone yielding, even if the camera car maintained a speed 4-5mph more it would have been close.
There's some real tw*ts around here sometimes.
Ummmm, the posts criticising the camera car explain exactly why they are criticising the camera car.He was doing 26/27mph, there was a pedestrian crossing the street ahead moments before the coach decided to try and overtake.

Cammers acceleration looked like panic attempt at getting out of way to me, and it was the lunatic bus driver who caused that panic.
Bus was legally entitled to travel maybe 3mph faster than it was before the overtake- so driver knew that his overtake would be suicidal unless either car slowed down, he substantially exceeded speed limit, or oncoming traffic took evasive action. He was not entitled to assume any of these- he appears to have assumed all of them.
Either way he needs to lose his job and license.
Indeed he does, but anyone whose panicked reaction to someone else is dumb manourve is to accelerate(or panics while driving at all frankly) should probably consider handing their licence in as well. Your panic response should always be to stop, if you've not panicked and can think rationally about a different course of action which is more appropriate by all means do it, but if you panic - just stop.Bus was legally entitled to travel maybe 3mph faster than it was before the overtake- so driver knew that his overtake would be suicidal unless either car slowed down, he substantially exceeded speed limit, or oncoming traffic took evasive action. Can't fault the driver for driving at 27 - indicated 30 on his speedo but the professional driver should know better, why was he speeding in the first place?
As for the police response of 'it's ok to speed'. Doesn't surprise me, I've known of a similar position where the driver went beyond the speed limit for the road (because he was being chased by a crazy road rage fuelled violent man who tried to pull him out of my car and put his family in danger) and was told the same thing the camera guy was told by the unmarked car that got involved in 'the chase'. Necessary in the circumstances and he walked away with no records, no fines, no points, no NIPs, sometimes it's ok to speed!!

Easy said in hindsight and especially easy when you're not the driver, nor even in the car. Instead just sitting at a computer watching videos where you expect something to go wrong. You could hear the wife saying ' we have it on this' she wasn't as panicked as the man was but he wanted to go after the coach. The amount of times a collision could have been avoided by a brief stamp on the accelerator is numerous, he probably had in mind that if he accelerated he would get beyond the problem, in this case it didn't work.

Judging by the cammer's previous driving, suggestion that they were being aggressive (not yours I know) seems unfounded.

I drive that road every day and at similar speed (25-30mph). No idea wtf the coach driver was thinking!https://youtu.be/vBcVQYFbzSA
ETA: I see some here are having a pop at the cam-car - that road is residential, 30mph limit (and the camera car was doing just under 30 on GPS so probably indicated 30 on the speedo) and it was 100% the fault of the Crawley Luxury Coaches driver. The CLC driver created the problem with a dangerous overtake in a stupid place.

The coach speeds off well over 30 mph, good job the truck coming the other way jammed on his anchors, or could have been carnage.

Because just as this bus driver was carrying out this dangerous manouvre, the dashcam driver increased his speed by 10+mph just to make things even more dangerous...He was doing 26/27mph, there was a pedestrian crossing the street ahead moments before the coach decided to try and overtake.

ETA: in the time-honoured fashion of dashcam drivers.

I was one of those people, but I'm not arsed enough to consider it a 'pop'. Generally speaking it's a case of 'when two nobs meet', and I don't really care much past that. However, I do think it's ironic for him (the cammer) to sit on his high horse on the YT comments about the coach driver being arrested, when he himself sped up to 37mph GPS (so 40mph speedo?) with the coach alongside. He then did 60mph through that same 30mph residential area just to tell the coach driver - whose reg he already had - that he 'has it on camera' a few times. As I said it's not the overtake or the cammer's response in particular that prompted me to post; after all this thread is full of the same and worse. Rather it's the dashcam warrior's insistence on berating the bus driver while having driven dangerously himself. The people defending him are quick to keep repeating that he was only doing 27mph in a 30 limit, but they keep omitting the fact he was also doing 37mph then 60mph during and after the coach's (idiotic) overtake... They both need to give their heads a wobble, but the coach driver definitely was the worse of the two.

Nevertheless it is the bus driver who created the situation leading to the cammer's poorly chosen attempt at getting out of his way during the lunatic overtake. That makes it bus driver fault, completely, in my book.
Anyway- this is getting to be a thread hijack so I'm off. I'll agree to disagree!

Not sure I'd use the hard shoulder on the edge of a bridge unless my vehicle was incapable of getting to the other side.If he'd been in the left lane earlier it would never have happened!

True, but I don't blame the bloke for speeding up.Most people are criticising the cam car for the former, whereas I think you are talking about the latter.
