Jeez, lighten up. You may see that this is a "cars for sale" thread. But you don't understand the general environment of it, do you.
Fixed that quoting for you, too.
I think you should stop taking yourself so seriously. Fixed that quoting for you, too.

Hi everybody, as a former barge-keeper I tend to visit this thread everyday and finally I just had to post. What do we all think of this W124, for sale just round the corner from me?

I had a look around it the other day and the finish and build quality appears to be very good indeed, I think I can finally understand why people are so keen on these! Anybody have any experience of the 2.3 unit coupled with an autobox?
Nice colour scheme. Very basic spec. Needs 8- or 15-hole alloys as a condition of sale. Wonder if it's done much towing?http://www.topgear-carsales.co.uk/used-cars/merced...

Drove a 230E once and found it rather sluggish, but the car I drove had a blowing head gasket so perhaps it was slower than usual. The later 16 valve 220E was faster & more economical but apparently more unrefined.
I found the automatic 230E quite low-geared - about 3500rpm at 70mph in top.

Anyway, can't recall if I asked......other than RenesisEvo, are any other threadists going to Sunday Service at Silverstone this weekend? I'll be heading down there in the barge, hopefully I'll get chance to clean it Saturday as it's not been cleaned for quite a while!!
Heading down with a few pals. My CLK55, a Mate is E34 540 and an S4 hopefully!judas said:
Shame the seller had to copy verbatim from my ad: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...
Hi Judas, I see you've dropped the price on your 750 a bit, have you not had much interest? Any thoughts on keeping her perhaps? NervySi said:

My uncle used to have a 230E auto like this many years ago, before he replaced it with a 260E and then a 280E. I drove it a few times. They lope along ably enough but the engine is nothing special in terms of refinement and even in the day, they were 'adequate' rather than in any way quick. I have nothing against them but on the basis of the one example I have tried I would always tend to go for a six cylinder. Even the baby six, the 260E, was a much more impressive and melodious car.On the other hand the 2-litre in the 190E was a decent enough package, perhaps the smaller engine seemed smoother, and of course had less weight to punt around.

Anything major to check? I guess at this price point its hardly going to be perfect... and theres not much that can go wrong that WONT write it off.
Fuel tanks easy to check?

I will personally wire you £5 in beer tokens if you ask the guy why he plagiarised another advert on this site.Anything major to check? I guess at this price point its hardly going to be perfect... and theres not much that can go wrong that WONT write it off.

Hi Judas, I see you've dropped the price on your 750 a bit, have you not had much interest? Any thoughts on keeping her perhaps? Interest has been thin on the ground and mostly from idiot texters. However, a friend (and fellow PH'er) is returning from Oz early December and had said he'll have it provided it passes it's MOT and will fit in his garage. He used to have an XJS which fitted, but with not much space to spare, so it's 50/50 whether Brunhilda will fit.

Why bizarre? It's an advert. Unless he has another to sell, how can it affect him in any meaningful way?
Unless Queen and David Bowie were going to completely reuse the bassline from Under Pressure in another song, how can it have affected them in any meaningful way that Vanilla Ice nicked it for Ice Ice Baby?masermartin said:

Piece of piss. Take to supermarket. Brim it. Park it up for a day or two. See how big the puddle is.
£120 of petrol is cheaper than fixing an Emmental tank...

Common leak areas are the filler neck where it joins the tank, and the bottom of the tank - the latter's easy to check: just run your hand over the bottom (both sides) and see if then smells of fuel. If it does, walk away.
