The act of driving onto a racktrack wasn't THAT dangerous. ... took his girfriend against her will onto the track and risked her life and limb
You can't have it both way, dear boy.

That was Brilliant. Love it. That may be the only chance that guy ever gets to run a lap of Brands Hatch. Hats off to him. He had the balls to go and do it. (Cue...heath and safety scaremongers)
Good on ya fella. I laughed and laughed and wished it was me.
Now take your punisment and live your life in a straight-jacket. Just like they want us all to.
. Probably upset all the rich boy racers with their 30-grand cars. But you done em. Didn't even get overtaken. ?

It scares me that people with such a warped perspective on life such as this tool actually exist.

corr! stiff sentence indeed!
I would have thought a 2 year driving ban and a fine. if only sentencing for more serious crimes were dealt with accordingly as well
I agree that he should have had a stiff ban & not a costly break at Her Majesty's pleasure (or us as tax payers) - what a t**t though! I bet he won't be watching Traffic Cops or the BTCC much after the Judge's decision smile

The obnoxious tts in this country need slapping down, this is anti social behaviour, more of them need taking to task, at any age, not just youngsters.

Having watched the video in the original post, I'm amazed he even had a driving licence. Sounds more like 2 short planks were driving the car! He won't be missed in prison. Give him a job for life fixing pot-holes when he gets out - not paid of course!

Why was there not a barrier though?
Racing cars aren't brought to the circuit by Storks y'know - access to pit areas is required for competitors/support staff/marshalls/officials/loads of other people and I suspect they operate on the basis that most people there are not complete fking idiots and so don't operate the entrances/exits with security to the level of an Israeli landgrab operation ;0

Fact is they could have gone after him for kidnapping (or detaining someone against their will at least) and attempted murder which would have landed him longer than 8 months - so I think he should consider himself lucky.

I'd also say a mental health evaluation might not be a bad idea - anyone who thinks "hey, a racetrack with a race on - let's drive my GFs car over there" is missing something quite fundamental in the "not allowed out alone" department.

8 months? Well stone the fcensoredking crows that sounds like a just sentence! What a turn up for the books, British legal system in actual reasonable sentence shocker.
When will they start handing out custodial sentences for driving without insurance?

Would it be too much.. to hope that during his time inside.. he is made into someone's screaming wench?

eta: as someone said on the last page, daft hair (both face and head), he deserves 8 months just for looking a bellend.

Consider, for a moment, that you are advocating anal rape as a form of punishment in a civilised society...

Ahem, dare I suggest you use the search function?
As this is pistonheads, I hasten to add, the original comment was intended to be tongue in cheek, "bants" if you will, I'm sure Jack the LAD would appreciate.

Attempted murder? Brilliant.

...I don't think prison is the right place for him. Community service would have been a better punishment IMO.
And do you seriously think a knob like him would actually do it? I've got a neighbour who got caught drunk driving while already banned. Given a community service order and not done a day of it.

Yes, a bell end but now he's going to be worthless, even more than he was.

No job prospects and the chance that he'll come out of prison with a few more ideas.

It's a waste.

As for Brands, the security was shocking.
I agree - if you're going to be an idiot it's SAFER to do it on track - the other drivers had cages, fireproof suits etc I see worse driving on the road most days - even if you cause a crash with poor driving you are unlikely to go to prison.

Fine, Points and Community service would be far better.

What fine did Brands get for their failure to protect their customers ?

Well if he doesn't do it - then put him in prison.

To celebrate the misery and pain of a human being is inhuman. To mete out justice based on what may have happened rather than actual damage done is not worthy of the word. This civilised society follows a distinguished tradition of setting examples, from heads impaled on poles through to incarceration of foolish and reckless young men. Who wouldn't want to follow our example. Luckily I have no idea what I am talking about and deliberately gate crashed this full chat topic with no regard for my own safety nor that of the moderators, security services nor other members of pistonheads.....

My neighbour's not in prison. Taking him away while they had him was the right solution.

He won't be out for long if that is the case.

"Community Service is a strict Order of Court. It is usually used instead of prison. It is a serious Order - supervision is firm. If you fail to comply with the Order, you will be returned to Court.
If you are unable to attend your Community Service work, for any reason, you MUST ALWAYS inform your Supervising Officer BEFOREHAND or IMMEDIATELY you are aware you cannot attend.
The Supervising Officer will determine whether the absence is acceptable or unacceptable.
An acceptable absence may be due to illness; an unacceptable absence may include sleeping in, forgetting to attend or making another appointment that clashes with Community Service."

Yep there are loads of laws based around the possible result of someones actions even if the worst didn't come to pass.

Drink Driving would be the obvious one for me.

Yes, you can Google the words. I'm simply telling you the facts. It's not an argument, I'm simply stating my view based on my experience of real life.
