Why not do this and get them to fix your car with its new replacement engine. As I cannot understand why there is no warraty on it? I mean I can but I don't see how that is allowed.

This if you ignore the budget.

Or this if you ignore the number of cylinders requirement. winkcool

I thought of the Clio too........but I tried to stick roughly to "the rules" smile

I loved my 182 (both!) but the driving position is just fking shocking - its like sitting on a box with a steering wheel from a bus. I doubt they have fixed it on the V6.

I'm not a big fan of the wheels, but for £20k £30-32k you can get a proper Porsche.
Edited for realism.

How about one of these? They even sound like a Porker.

Oh and today I'm feeling like a bit of a boy racer and fancying this:

900hp! I wonder how long you could drive it hard before it went bang.

The classifieds only seems to bring up Z4, Cayman, 135i/335i and 350/370Z.

Ignoring most of your criteria, this looks good for £25k.

Such a great looking car.

The V6 is a car I'd almost put up with the discomfort for!

Amen. Seriously considered one a few years back when they could be had for between £10-20k for a good one (missed the boat there - Ph2 cars went as low as £13k - now £10-20k more!). Still lust-worthy if somewhat impractical (not sure how I'd feel about parking it anywhere outside of fort knox, given the prices of replacement panels!

928s are lovely. As are R35s imo, if a different driving experience to that desired by our resident elk-like friend hehe

I don't see an option other than rebuilding le croc into a something truly handy. Or buying a 911!

how about keep the cayman as a long term project and do something crazy:

and get something classic for pootling around over summer? a porsche 914 would suit you down to the ground.

I can't see Mr. cmoose being interested in a 4-pot, turbo Cayman wink

I, on the other hand, love these conversion threads so many thanks for posting as I had been following this one a few years ago and forgot about it!

Is that a Porsche-specific thing? Certainly BMW parts carry a warranty of their own (which is either one or two years, I can't remember).

That is inspired. If only Porsche would opt for a reliable turbo four pot. I bet enthusiasts would lap them up.

Ok, maybe not.

Have you considered reversing a Safrane V6? Ticks a lot of the boxes there...

But yet you won't drive the obvious candidate - the E46 M3 - #becausesaloon?

In other news, I'm trying to decide between an R1 and a GSXR 1000.

Any thoughts?
