Okay, my username: CRA5H could still actually be a number plate... anyway of sourcing where it is? Registered between August 1969 and July 1970 by the history books... Does anone know if there's a way of tracking it?
CRU5H was on ebay a few years ago dunno why you may be interested
It was indeed, I bought it and the seller (who I think had it on a monster truck) changed his mind about selling it - what a bd!
CRA---H was never issued. CRA was issued as a three letter prefix in 1936, reversed in 1956, and with B, G, L & T year suffixes.

So, if not already auctioned DVLA can do so - worth asking them!
And = CRU...H also not issued, so DVLA definitely sold that one.
Was RHY....F issued please?

Last night saw A13 (looks like AB) and 1R together in Berkeley Square and 1D just around the corner on Curzon St. Now I'm sure somebody posted earlier that 1D had changed from the GTC to a Maserati Granturismo, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that it hasn't... (unless I've miss-remembered in which case I apologise!)

CRU 5H was sold at DVLA auction for £9600 (+ fees) in May 2003.
CRA 5H not issued yet - would imagine it'd got through auction for around £15k.

So if I asked really nicely and gave the DVLA my pennies.... I can have it? DOes it have to go through an Auction though?

Yes, i think so - I've never heard of DVLA selling plates like this direct, although others on this forum will know much more than I!

Yeah it'll have to go through DVLA auction - that way the money grabbing buggers will get the highest possible price wink

If you're interested then just email som.dvla@gtnet.gov.uk and ask them to release it asap. As Aviz said though it can take a while to be released for auction - although some, like xPow I believe got theirs released pretty quickly. Just keep pestering them thumbup

Just had an email from the wife who has been to see her new osteopath today who has the plate 777 SM on his car.

Apparently there was some connection to Sir Striling Moss at some point. Probably worth a few quid.

Hmm that's the problem. Highest possible price is not very high for me... March comes and the finances should be a bit better... i hope.

Saw a Toureg, light blue/gray/grey however you spell it, with K17EN X i think... or may have been 177... but the X was spaced out... tut!

Also been seeing a Black RR - R1DER - looks soo cool!

thing to remember about auctions is that there's always the plate traders there too. If it's a good plate (CRA 5H would definately be considered 'good') - then the plate traders will bid for their own stock and then rape the price up, even if it sits there for x years. IMO, I think it'd go for 8-12k at auction, so would be 15-25k on the dealer sites..

So if the plate IS important to you and it comes up at auction, do all you can to win there and then, otherwise if it goes to a trader, the price is typically doubled or tripled the very next day.

have mentioned before I used one person at DVLA who got all my plates to auction within 6 months, so happy to pm their details.

This morning I saw

'515 63' or something very similar

With screws to read 515 6.3 on an SLS Gullwing 6.3 AMG. Believe that the car belongs to Anthony Hamilton.

Sorry if this has been spotted already but there is no way I was going to read every page!

5J up with regtransfers now at £270,000

9X has now definitely sold to regtransfers as they were advertising this fact in the sunday times.

8G been pulled from the market I think.

The cheapest 2 for sale are now 2E at £85,000 and 7E at around £100,000.
No it hasn't... I know who (still) owns it. I didn't manage to catch that article in the paper. What did it say exactly?

Oh and I've seen 7X on a black range rover near Tunbridge Wells. No photo though frown

Just before the last live auction I enquired about a number and it is going to be put into the next live auction and they told me the reserve price and another I asked about will be in the next online auction.
