Squeezing past cars parked that badly, I might well catch my arm on the mirror. Possibly hard enough for them to be looking for a new one. Who knows? At my speed and not being able to judge distance as well as I used to when I was slim, accidents just might happen? And if challenged? Well first off, my arm would really, really hurt. Quite possibly to the point where the only cure was a personal injury claim. Then I'd be reaching into my pocket for my disabled person's assistance card.
To anyone claiming that damaging a car parked that badly is over-reacting? I give you this option. PARK FKING PROPERLY in the first place and such accidents are far less likely to occur...

Don't stoop to their level. It's illegally parked, inform the police. They may be otherwise occupied but it's the correct way to deal with footpath obstruction.
Exactly the sad thing is 99% of the time it is a parent dropping they kids off to school. I walk then to school everyday rain or shine as only less than 1 mile each way.yellowjack said:

Have you tried to report this sort of low level stuff to the Police lately?I have. And if you eventually can get through to someone local, then the reply is usually that they'll "send a PCSO to have a look when one is available". By which time, the cretinous parker will have gone away. Only they'll be back. Time and time again. And each time they'll face no sanction for forcing vulnerable pedestrians into the carriageway.
In fact (and it is parking related) I called the Police after being threatened with violence by three oiks trying to extort money from me. I retreated into a shop, and despite them being STILL THERE, and still threatening me should I leave the shop, it took 40 minutes for officers to respond. By which time the oiks had been informed (by a mate inside) that the police had indeed been called, and so they left. The police officers who responded meekly accepted the "CCTV doesn't work" line from the shop owner (who clearly didn't want to risk getting involved). Do you STILL maintain that calling police is any sort of way to deal with this sort of arrogance?
Nope, I'll be folding mirrors with my arm I'm afraid. It's a good application of the law of unintended consequences. You park like that, whilst NOT intending to get your car damaged. I knock the mirror with an elbow, NOT intending to cause damage. But if the mirror IS damaged nonetheless? Not my fault buddy - you put the car there in the first place. I'm happy to take my chances with the CPS on a criminal damage charge in the circumstances. I'll bet you £50 right now that it'd never even get before a magistrate to be tested. Burden of proof too high, potential reduction in 'crime' figures too low for it to be worth a PC's time to investigate, even. "Sorry, officer, but it was already like that when I walked past" said Pinocchio. I'm sure the police would be about as interested in such a non-event as they were when I reported a car-park hit & run to them. Those repairs cost me my excess and loss of NCD, despite having a clear description of an easily recognizable gold Mercedes-Benz (but sadly no registration number) and a ten minute window to check on CCTV.
In my ideal world, the entire community would respond to such ignorant, arrogant parking by surrounding the car and beating it with sticks, leaving no panel unmarked. Then we'd all close ranks and claim we "saw nothing officer" whilst pointing out the offence of parking so as to obstruct a right of way. Tipping a door mirror round the wrong way is pretty tame by comparison. Illegal parkers should consider themselves lucky if that's all they get.

Problem is, the police will do sod all about it. Or they turn up 3 days later and its gone. Folk who park like that deserve all they get I am afraid, I wouldnt do it, would anyone here do it?Doesnt look like a busy road either.

How was the road closed for hours, disrupting bus services due to a car blocking a driveway?Still good to see action being taken.

But only in a way calculated to cause more disruption than the original bad parking Sadly I didn't get a chance to get a picture, as I was leaving the car park at the time, but it would appear that being an employee of England Rugby as backroom staff, physio, etc, and having a fully liveried up vehicle, gives you the entitlement to park however you like
Earlier this afternoon at Waitrose in Bagshot there were 2 x white L200's, that had been fully liveried up with England Rugby graphics, associated sponsor decals, etc and the 2 female drivers had obviously popped down the road from their usual training camp at Pennyhill Park to pick up some shopping, etc. One of them evidently felt it acceptable to dump themselves in such a way that they occupied 4 spaces, whilst the other one decided to occupy one of the disabled / parent & child spaces at the front of store
