On here for almost 3 years and that's it. I bet you're full of riveting conversation.
Why do tts like this one never post what they drive and previously owned.
No doubt was not long home from school and now being bathed by mummy. Then it's do you want to read, play your game for an hour or as a treat you can stay up a lil later and watch Children In Need just so you realise just how lucky you are son wink

It's a modern Peugeot. It will fall apart around your ears and depreciate like a rock. I'm sorry but the horrors of the 207, 307, not to mention the people carriers they slung out, are still too fresh in the mind to consider spending anything more than shed money on one.

It's still a French FWD coupe. I'm no German fan boy but £30k would be far more satisfactorily spent elsewhere. As has been mentioned, GT86. Just as plastic, but will (reputationally, at least) last longer and give more smiles and less headaches.

All in my uninformed humble opinion

A driveable, flexible, enjoyable, hard revving 270bhp from a mainstream 1.6 litre engine. Impressive.

Will we be seeing JCW's with the same power output?

A JCW+ ?

I'm the latter and this car would just be perfect to fit all my lovely samples and many many small dogs in the back while getting me to the hair dresser for my weekly mani pedi and bh even quicker.

It will be a total flop though

That's a positive connotation for me. No overpriced st, decent quality and the status seekers will look elsewhere.

not all races were 6 hours, sebring was 12. i get your point but they had their bottoms handed to them in 2011 and the ilmc was as high profile as the WEC. High profile enough for both companies to run 2 cars in all races.

let us not forget that the older iteration of the 908 beat a developed R18 at every opportunity bar le mans, and at le mans it was only 13 seconds from the win.

ill make a prediction that if pug were running in 2012 they would have won le mans and if they were running in 2013 they would've been there or there abouts.
I'm not saying Peugeot weren't a good team with a good car just that when it comes to the big test at Le Mans, the record shows they couldn't really match Audi. Audi were duty bound to attend all the races in 2011 and were of course striving for wins but given the resources they had the decision was made to focus all development on Le Mans. I have it on good authority that Peugeot actually spent more than Audi when developing the 908 (although we'll probably never really know).
"ILMC was as high profile as the WEC" - that's not saying much - nobody know's about the WEC! A british driver won it this year, he's a world champion and I don't remember seeing anything the papers.

13 seconds was a close finish and an epic race, but would the margin have been more if the x4 Peugeots hadn't ganged up on the sole remaining Audi and employed some pretty shoddy blocking tactics over the last few hours?
I can still hear the boos trackside.

As for 2012, shoulda, coulda, woulda.
We'll never know.
Sure the 908 was fast, maybe faster than the R18, but then the Toyotas have been faster on a lap than the Audi's and their name isn't yet on the trophy.
Whatever you think of Audi's road cars there is no denying they are one of the best motorsport teams in the history of the sport. Sure the competition hasn't been consistently strong but all they can do is beat what's infront of them.

Maybe, unlike a lot of us on here, he waits until he has something worth saying?

"Still a french car for £30k"

"Looks like a rip off of an Audi TT"

Badge snobbery much??

Take todays £30k and back track the inflation thats included by 25yrs and you are roughly around £15k! A new 205 1.9 gti was around £9k/£10k back then and had nearly 1/3 of the power and was regarded a superb car! So why is the rcz getting grief??

Its no doubt the build quality throughout the entire automotive industry is far better today than 25yrs ago!! So i think a £30k hot Peugeot is completely acceptable in todays money!!

£16k in 1988 would have bought you a sapphire cossie with 220bhp and unreliability. Near £30k 25yrs later, buys you a focus rs with 300bhp and probably the same level of reliability. Whats better value for money across the board??

That price tag very nearly ruins the car... it's 7k more than a Megane 265 with design being the only thing in the Pug's favour...

Oh and... M135i.
(there, I've mentioned it)

If the RCZ R cost £2000 less it still wouldn't make me choose one instead of a 370Z, Golf R, Scirocco R or M135i.

I like the interior, and 270hp/1280kg is fine but the front end styling doesn't work imho. Add that to the relatively high purchase price and the likely Pug depreciation and I don't think there will be too many about. Its been a long time for me since any Peugeot has been even slightly desirable so the RCZ R is a welcome surprise and hopefully the start of a return to form.

Hey, I wanted to say that, but it's saturday already biglaugh I own a Boxster S, bought used with a 28% discount and 3,500 miles, so I'm biased!
Jokes apart, nice seats and engine. I find the front restyling well done, also.
No way I'm going to spend money on a sportscar which is not used (12-18 months), AND German or Japanese (the Italians are a bit more pricey).

I think you mean this car has been aimed at the strong successfull Independent female market (and the metrosexual male who is very much in touch with his femine side). If you mean that I agree.

If it was just having a go at the fairer sex and gay people I do not!!

IMO this car is false advertising... the shape makes it look like the engine is in the rear, sadly it is not. If they would be brave enough to do that I would applaud it and I am sure they would sell more of these. As they seem to be rarer than an honest politician.

I somehow don't think many people will look at the RCZ and Elise as competitors. hehe

And if the did then it would, wtf!!! Only 1.6! Why not V6 N/A... Fail. If it was V6 it's how heavy! Fail. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. And that's before costing in a bespoke mid engineer platform. wink

Nice Car.

I want to believe the facelift Peugeot 508, whenever its launched, will get the same engine and transmission. That's the one am waiting for.

Well done Peugeot!

I don't think it follows that being gay means you buy a certain car or are clueless, there are gay petrolheads, I know of a gay bloke with a TVR, not all gay men are massively camp queens.
