Its much better than the MX-6: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/v...
I hate judging cars from photos but it's either clocked or every journey has been < 2 miles and carried 4 kids because the interior is pretty tired for those miles...

I thought all SOTWs had to have current tax and MoT? Doesn't being SORN disqualify this car?

Otherwise it looks OK for £750.
As someone pointed out further up, now the VED regs have changed it is no longer possible to transfer 'road tax' between owners - it is the buyer's responsibility to tax the vehicle at the time of purchase.
I've been away too long to know about the changes in road tax or VED. On second thoughts I am leaning towards the views of others here that this thing is really rubbish. Even if you get those awful stickers off.

When I was a teenager, about 20 years ago, I worked at a garden centre. The wife of the fairly well-off owner drove a then-new MX-6. From what I remember, it wasn't a very desirable car then either, and I was a car-mad lad who rode a pedal bike to work.

Wonder what its nearest equivalent is now ?

Car for people in the know and wanted something dynamically good with fwd like a Corrado. I wouldn't want an auto personally but they were a good handling car, as the group tests/reviews of the time show.
Performance was only modern day GT86 matching so obviously going to be a sticking point on here smile

Her equivalent would almost certainly be driving an Evoque now.

Driven one, unlike most people. Not a bad drive, in a similar vein to the Prelude, 406, 3-series, Corrado and so on.

Sound brilliant.

biggrin

Max Power - I'm not sure they were ever big proponents of handling back in 92/93 laugh

I've bought a lot of car mags but I can't remember their review of the MX6

Revs was about as lairy as I went

Seriously though, you'll remember it was favourably compared to even the Corrado VR6 when new.....although it was giving away 25bhp and 300cc so it wouldn't match it for performance as it weighed roughly the same

Yeah, definitely needs a manual to make the most of the lovely V6

The used a manual one in the PC mag group test with the 325i Coupe, 200SX, Prelude 2.3 and Calibra Turbo down to the South of France.

MX6 got the first place overall verdict and manage to beat the 325i and Prelude for all out acceleration

The JDM looks pretty good as 90s coupes go - reminds me of an S14

Even a manual,V6 Uk one offered GT86 performance with good handling and a smooth V6 so I'd be interested to see how the JDM was rated - like the TRD Sport M Celicas they never got tested here though - Mazda had quite a range of sporty cars back then, MX3, MX5, MX6 and RX7
Remember always wanting an RX7, just perfect proportions in all it's guises smile That said I still wouldn't mind an S14, specifically an S14a but the prices are on the rise from what I've seen frown

My next motor choice changes from week to week though despite my meagre budget laugh

I will stick up for this shed because I saw a very clean one on the way in to work today and it was also quite pleasing to the ears. Apparently they are quite chuckable and there are some worthwhile suspension upgrades out there so I suppose it might make for an interesting track car.

Might do if it wasn't an auto

Obviously it did pretty well in Autocar, Car, Prrformance Car and Fast Lane group tests as a manual version. Modern day GT86 straight line performance and managed to get the nod over stuff like the 325i, 200SX, Prelude and Corrado G60.
Pretty decent in its day ..... but the auto box makes it really sluggish

I guess they can only make a judgement on the cars as they were new and in comparison with their 'peers'

To be fair, CAR, Fast Lane and Autocar made much the same judgement

They're also making a decision based on driving the cars back to back. I'm surprised how many PHers are so intimately familiar with the car, they don't seem all that commonplace.

Many cars that got good write-ups against their contemporaries have become rubbish over the intervening years according to public opinion/taste and fancy.........and vice versa
