RE: Alfa Romeo GT Blackline | Shed of the Week
Discussion
Good looking in the photos. It's also the only one I've seen in a long time where the Alfa badges haven't weathered away and become simple silver discs(!).
It's a candidate for Shed Of The Year...and yet that advert (and a trader saying it's sold with no warranty etc) puts me right off.
Choosing my words very carefully: if I get an impression from any seller of dishonesty- whether intended by a seller or not- it becomes hard to trust that seller, even at bargain basement prices.

Having owned two 156s I've always had a soft spot for the GT-same platform: same engines, classic design.
The GT benefited from being on the 156/147 platform which while old even at the time made for a lighter car than the Brera which was built on a new E-segment platform that the 159 used and was very heavy a a result.
Oddly, while the 156 with the 3.2 Busso was labelled a 156 GTA, the GT with the same engine was not-just read 3.2 V6 on the back.

I'm taking a semi-self-enforced break / gentleman's agreement with my partner about having a third car in the household but when the time comes I will be after one of these; ether the 1.8 Twinspark (which I believe is thought of as better than the 2.0 JTS), or go all out with the Busso.
Great shed.
Great shed.

Controversial opinion - the GT is a better looking car than the Brera

The problem with the Brera, was the concept looked so much better than the production version, despite few details being notably different between them.Great shed
I blame the overhangs... That said, I do like the Spider.
Definitely agreed the GT is far prettier. Pity they never made the GT convertible.

Seems the seller almost forsees imminent borkage and is safeguarding his profits on this one.
the text in the add would appear to suggest that with his assertion that no guarantee is offered on this or any Alfa! Not sure how legal that is as well from a trade seller?Steve vRS said:

I think if he is selling to joe public you still have the 30 days of statutory rights regardless?Forgot to mention this earlier.
Shed says the door handles have a tendency to fall off. Cheap fix though as it is just the front hinge that breaks and it is the same part as used on the FIAT 500. The whole handles are interchangeable too IIRC but the FIAT ones are made of chrome plated alloy rather than the billet stainless steel ones on the Alfa.
You'll also cut your hands to ribbons changing them.

Agree for the exterior, but the Brera interior is far nicer.Great shed
Agree with the interior though, i think its that big wart of vents on top of the dash that spoils it, also used in Fiats of the time possibly from memory?

Not controversial at all, Brera was very odd. Ive always thought these were handsome cars.
