Somebody say white?

I'd love to see that with the old skool blue tiger striping that the first Escort Cosworth rally cars had...! That would rock!!!

I've got to go against the grain on this one. I'm not too sure I like the way it looks (could be the colour admittedly). No doubt it will be fun to drive though.

...to you.

There's nothing wrong with being bold once in a while and I love the rally-stage-refugee look. It worked for the Delta Integrale and looking at the pics, it works for this too.
And to me too.

There's nothing to say that this is going to be a limited run of RS's, so i reckon the value of these will drop considerably, especially if they only do the ghastly green colour.

RS should be special and this looks like the ST with even more Halfrauds jewellery on it.

Ford didn't do it any favours making it FWD with 300hp and bringing it out in green has made it worse.....and for just under 25k???!
That has a huge amount of power, will probably handle well given the reputation of the last RS AND looks like it's just driven off the stage at WRC scrutineering...

I love RWD, but in a lot of cases, in todays world, there are lots of situations where FWD is faster.

Nothing like reading what it says, it's PRE PRODUCTION FFS! Like they are going to sell a top end RS badged car in snot green only!
Calm down fella, i'm only mentioning my opinion.

The 300bhp front-wheel drive Focus is finished in a special bright green paint with inlaid metallic flake, which Ford says is a modern interpretation of the 1970s Le Mans Green of the Escort RS1600 era.

That sounds to me like the only colour and remember the last RS was only brought out in blue....something which i'm sure most would agree, was a smarter idea.

Ford Racing Blue and Imperial Blue are one and the same frown

(Well, according to my paint codes)
Indeed they are (I used to own a Racing Puma) - and I believe Performance Blue (on the ST) is the same as well?

im scared... its a ford i LIKE. its utterly gorgeous and mean as frak.

shame its FWD though. i thought one of the main reasons for the new car/chassis was the 4WD capability?

I'll agree with that. I suppose i'm just used to the way you can use 4WD. Being able to plant the accelerator mid bend and not go straight ahead, is a nice feeling. smile

First it got slated for no AWD, now it's been slated for it's colour, and all this a year before it even sets it's wheels in a dealers showroom.

I could well be tempted by this if the FWD set-up is as good as it's being touted. This new fangled suspension and diff sound very interesting.....

Not in green though! I do look the idea of having a colour unique to the RS, but something a little less garish... IMHO white with blue side stripes would look very classy!

That was my first thought too....

Sorry to all those enthusing about it but to my eyes it's a bit too much 'Halfrauds Special'.

I loved the look of the original Imprezas, they then morphed into a testosterone fueled teenagers fantasy.....this is bang up to date with that design philosophy.

I'm sure it'll sell like hot cakes

..assuming testosterone-fuelled teenagers can raise £25k.

That's the problem IMO, if it sell's like hot cakes(still with the limited numbers thing in mind), it is no longer classed as "special".

It'll end up like a glorified ST and the RS badge won't mean as much as it used to. frown

I think an RS badge has more to do with what the car can do, rather than the volume it does it in.

RS is about ability and not quantity.

You shouldn't really write it off for being a sales success (assumed obviously!) if it can tear a road apart on a decent day.

Too true, but there isn't many manufacturers out there that produce 2 hot versions of one of their cars. If they do that too often, surely one will fall by the way-side?

Maybe another problem is as you mention..."on a decent day". Up here in Scotland, a decent day is few and far between. biggrin

Even looking at the Astra VXR's specs there, shows at 6.2 seconds to 60 and that's going to be 7-8k cheaper. Stick a LSD in it and i'm sure te 0-60 time will come down to a par with the new RS........possibly. smile

What with this car and the cool new Scirocco - the future looks bright.
Was going to order the the RS but 300BHp and FWd put me off.
Ordered the Scirocco instead.

Not as fast, no, but also won't be quite so thirsty. Aren't 225BHP ST's only getting 23-24mpg?
