[quote=internet-carlot]M cars are very difficult to value as they are subject to so many variables.

M3 E46 (last of them, up on miles, SMG ?!) - £17-£18k with nav and 1200 - £16-£17k without. Books at £18600

I'll wager 5 quid that M3 doesn't make 15k.

Yep. Not a chance in hell. I think your money is safe at £14k to be honest Olf! Either that or there really are some dumb/gullible/stupid people out there. Given some of the stuff said on here though, that is probably a given.

biggrin

I would happily have a go with you if I could see the full spec and condition but I would be a bit silly to do it blind!!

We will see!

I agree, they are not cheap enough for me, I went looking for five or six and only came back with one but as Tonker rightly points out the percentages against list of many of these cars make them look mega cheap to anyone out of the trade and to be fair they still are compared to what this stuff was booking at six months ago.
I'm thinking the same, how do these prices compare to CAP percentage wise at the moment?
I only get Glasses, I used to subscribe to CAP when I worked for a GM dealer who had an auction policy but I think the danger with CAP is you can undervalue cars a lot of the time. That said, from what I gather on a lot of mainstream cars CAP is apparantly valuing them at more then Glasses.
Thanks - the reason I was interested in CAP figures is that in the Manheim On-line listings they show the CAP milage adjusted prices. Colchester is a bit of a treck for me and just wondered how close these estimates might be (Although, obviously, you never know what will happen on the day!).

V8 mate, was the Elise a privately entered car?

It certainly wasn't from a fleet. It was in the first batch of cars which go through each sale: a mix of private, small dealer p/ex, trade clearance etc.

It wasn't perfect. The rear 'deck' of the car (the top bit at the back, before it goes down to the rear lights) needed a good mop at the very least as it was quite badly 'swirled'. The front of the car was covered in snow smile

Overall, I felt it was good value for what it was, though; for me, it's the kind of car which asks you pay for it with the heart rather your head and the latest price guide.

Lot number 5 wasn't it? Those early lots always take a hammering.

I see the Cayman is back in tomorrow, that car has been there well over 2 months now.

Yep. Just rechecked the catalogue and that was a 'submit highest bid' car; so highly likely to have been private sale or member of staff etc.

I'm on my way back from the Nottingham auction. Only got prices of the first half of the lots as I finally bought myself a 730d. The M1 is closed southbound, so I've pulled into a restaurant to catch up on work.

Every car sold (while I was watching) some bargains, some not. I'll do a full rundown with pics in another thread tonight when I'm nice and warm, tucked up in bed! For the time being, here are some highlights...

The Z4M was a lovely car in a quite beautiful Interlagos Blue - with Black Nappa and 11.7k miles reg 03/06 made £17,200. I missed the M3s as I was sorting out payment and collection of my car, but the '08' M3 looked stunning in Jerez Black. The silver 650i Coupe made £21,200 and the '06' convertible made £25,200 which I think was a fantastic price as the car looked in outstanding condition.

Given that the link to the list is on here with all the reg numbers, I hope you don't mind if I don't tell you exactly which one right now, but it was the exact spec I had been looking for, low mileage and my my ideal colour Combo (I think V8Mate may work out which one it is as I briefly said what I was looking for when we met). The 730ds were selling between £14.k ish to over £20k which was retail price if you ask me. The drove very well, better than the Sport I test drove 6 weeks ago. It is the most comfortable car I have driven, and was quieter than the CLK320 I'm driving back to London (I left the car at my Uncle's in Nottingham - I'll pick up in a couple of days). The buggers a BCA parked it in the tightest spot in the car park and it took a 50 point turn to get it out - the thing is huge and I absolutely love it. Downsides? Car came with only one key, I've got no radio codes, no evidence of having been serviced - not sure if there is a wheel lock key and it had a low tyre. All small things that can be fixed with a few phone calls or a little effort. Did I get a bargain? Not bad, but not the best value 7 series of the day, but I was after a specific spec and this had it all, so I am happy.

Wow, I thought it was expensive - bidding started at £16k but when it passed £20k I thought that was just silly. Did'nt realise book price was that low. BTW whats book for 730d 2006 '56' with 20k miles? wink
