rofl £27 car with £40 of fuel in!? They were keen to get rid of the car!
Yeah it was that horrible rust brown colour (maroon) . They were expecting it to make much more but had listed the car in the wrong section so people thought it was just the tow bar haha

Update on the MX5

Drives fine, popped the hardtop off today between rain showers to see if the soft top was any good, tight as a drum and the tonneau cover was hiding underneath!
Still driving perfectly, oil is spotless and due to the damp conditions I can confirm the diff is working fine evil

It's a bit dark so tomorrow will tell me more, the full MOT gives me some hope and the arches are still there! It appears to have spent a long time living on the Isle of Wight which is interesting and accounts for the low mileage I guess? It looks like the tonneau cover is under the soft top as well, just keeps on giving!
It will ne rusty - the only question is now rusty?

At that price for that model though, it will be worth repairing properly.

Had a quick poke about, the sills seem ok, will know more next week, bit of surface rust on the chassis legs but no holes (yet)! I expected far worse!

AHA! those sideskirts will be the reason it's got through the MOT, it's hiding the rust.

It's hard to put into words how much I hate you punch

That looks amazing and red is the best colour, all mine were red. At that money who cares if it never passes another MOT, it'll be damn good fun year.

The hardtop alone must be worth £300.

Seeing that £500 MX5 makes me wonder what the hell to do with my own MX5... it's not got a lot going for it, Jap import V-Spec, slashed roof, ripped drivers seat, worn carpets and suspension that really need replacing. Paintwork not great and rust appearing on the drivers side sill. Quite high mileage (around 150k I think) and little service history.

Can't imagine I'd get more than a few hundred if I was lucky. Should I just stick it on eBay and hope for the best or break it? Tempted just to give it to a made to restore...

I'm in a similar boat. It'll still be worth £1k with an MOT in the summer...

Keep it as a track car if you have the space/money.

Unfortunately I want to move into the middle of town next summer which means I need to sell the MX5, Jag and probably my Ducati too. I've got a few months to see how things go, I'll probably just tidy it up a bit and stick it on eBay.
