Been a few months so here's a new one - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/385030636040

Started out life as a 2012 1.2 Polo Match TDI with a £20 tax rate - now converted into a 2016 1.8 GTI DSG, which would be around £165 odd tax rate, plus the obligatory decat, unsilenced exhaust, pop bang remap, etc.

Obviously undeclared and up to the new owner to sort out, but in the meantime cheap tax, insurance, etc.
Christ that needs killing with fire...wouldn't be seen in a 'fast' VW as it is but that's a special level of automotive cancer. I love the way the seller is one of those trying to sell a 2 pedal gearbox as a 'MANUAL'. There's nothing manual about it, the car changes gear for itself rofl

Still logged as a 1.3. MOT recently expired, but still taxed.

£19k is a lot of money for a car that won't be road legal.

Surely for £12k if you want a Polo GTI you would by a proper car, sadly nobody buying this will ever declare the mods will they.
I would be more concerned that the car is a ringer or made up of stolen parts.
Valid point, mileage data on the mot history is interesting, in 2017 it has 135087, then in July 2018 it 7524 so I am guessing this is when the conversion happened.

Also surprising that a dealer is willing to sell it.
Ringer using stolen parts. Not the kind of thing usually openly advertised by a dealer. Ebay seem happy listing it.
It should be confiscated and crushed..

Another ratty old Ford advertised for ridiculous money.
Says lots of money spent but has a std T5 gearbox.
The underside of this kind of lash up will inevitably be a horror show...

KPP 477Y. Still registered as a 1296cc while it should be 2616cc. Also blatantly illegally modified, should be on a Q.
Shouldn't it be 1308cc?

Mazda call it 1308cc, but for tax purposes etc it's 2616cc.

Cosworth bits are bonkers money these days which leads to the crazy price. Boggo T5 is fine if it isn't running crazy power.

Actually looks like it's been done pretty well to me though. Shame they haven't made it legal really.

One from the overpriced thread - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275556572290

Running a full, decat, 106 GTI conversion, 205 GTI running gear, etc, but still down as a 1.0 44bhp XE on the V5 to take advantage of the lower sub 1.4 engine size tax class. All the ££££ to pay to get it built but sorting the paperwork (and then having to pay the higher tax / possible IVA) was obviously something a bit too tricky to sort out rolleyes

That's just daft, because it shouldn't even be too onerous to register properly. Nothing there that should need an IVA.

Slightly nasty looking Mk2 Focus RS500 replica - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125704335705

Started out life, and is still registered, as a Focus Zetec 125 but is now running full Mk2 FRS engine, etc.

Also comes complete with cringe number plate intended to be read as "Fast Rep" - which is ironic giving that right now the engine's shafted and it's not running hehegetmecoat

Mk3 Fiesta that started out life as a 1.3LX. Now running a 2litre zetec turbo conversion, but still down as a 1.3 to take advantage of the cheaper pre '01, engine size based, taxation class.

Maybe be relevant, but I've managed to register my 1996 Mk3 Astra CDX 1.6 16V as a 2498cc V6.
All I did was create a word document with a few pics showing the chassis number and what I described as 'clearly a 6 cylinder engine' in the back ground and a screen shot of an email receipt for the engine itself. Sent that off with the V5 with the info changed on it and less than 2 weeks later a new V5 turned up.
No inspection or report from a garage, car did have a fresh MOT. I forgot to mention I'm an ex-apprentice engineer with years of experience, which was going to be my excuse for not getting it inspected.

Got a 1997 Rover 600 Ti in the garage.

It's been laid up for about 9 yrs. Been promising myself every year for about the last 4 yrs I'm going to get it back on the road.

Get the money saved up, then some unexpected issue crops up with the house and the savings get spent on fixing that and not the car furious
Ah, yes, this time next year all our projects will be memories, not millstones smile

That's a lovely thing though, and I would have thought that anyone able to buy it would be keen to ensure the details are on the V5 are correct.

Oh 100%, it's a very lovely thing, really nicely done. Don't like the gear lever personally but that's just nitpicking.

...It's just frustratingly annoying that someone has gone to *that* much effort and not correctly registered it.
