Yes it's expensive, Yes it's probably a money pit, and yes Nervy will hate the Wheels
But isn't it just gorgeous...

Or a proper one with less miles for five grand more; But isn't it just gorgeous...

Although it's not strictly a proper one, being of only 5 litres capacity, and being 'built' by Sytners

Strong money for their age, non?
Especially that Alpina one, considering you can buy a 996TT for £26K and it'll be quicker, more capable, cheaper to run (probably) and all round a better car AND ten years younger.
Iknow Matt, but when did common sense prevail when it comes to cars like these.Especially that Alpina one, considering you can buy a 996TT for £26K and it'll be quicker, more capable, cheaper to run (probably) and all round a better car AND ten years younger.
Must say (and I hope DeR doesn't see this!) i'd take the Beemer over the Pork
only because I think it looks sensational, but it clearly isn't as good a car.
After 4 minutes of research (speaking to DeR) I've wandered off the 968CS idea.
Something simple, cheap, and relatively unassuming is calling me now;

Or is it not sufficiently mental/expensive/rare/unreliable enough for this thread?

Wheels and indicators - why?How ruinous would one of these be to own?

More to the point are they any good?

Not particularly as it happens - rust aside.
The C43 isn't much of an AMG - being not much more than an airbox, chip, wheels, and shocks type of thing.
The C36 which proceeded it is more akin to the B3 3.3 of the same period - bespoke engined lunacy.
I'd have a C36 over the C43 every time.

Provided its been well serviced you should'nt have too many mechanical issues and there are plenty of good indies for servicing. However Rust (yes with a capital R) is your biggest worry. Wheel arches are the popular spots however nothing is out of bounds.http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2041837.htm

It'd be better suited to a Rolls mind you.

Both are good cars - the '36 is the purist's choice, simply because it's a better drive (although that's a relative concept on these).
Unfortunately, the Alpina B3 3.3 is quite a lot better than either of them
really? how so, surely the 3.8 is a better performer?Unfortunately, the Alpina B3 3.3 is quite a lot better than either of them
The Alpina, in comparison, felt like a rocket-propelled go-kart.
