Because they're pony and the owners are weird.

Something for the individualists amongst us.

A simply excellent dog / tip run car any PHer would be proud to have on the fleet.

This 190 has a really good ad, and looks like fair value: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C786769

Not bad. But I'd spend the extra £500 on this....

Why do I want one so badly, it will be slow and a bit dull but there is something so wonderful about these Mercs, its like the dictionary definition of a car, I love the Puritain style luxury thing, the plastic wheel disks, needs to be 100 percent non bling, no chrome arches or alloys.

Someone on Retro Rides had a NATO green one, still pops into my head, in fact these look best in colours you wouldn't be seen dead in with other cars, beige as well, white works and these sober metallics.

5.5 V8 CLS to 190E 2.0 auto, hmm, maybe not, but still want one, its like that really plain girl at school that for some reason made you go all unnecessary and awkward.

That's lovely :-)

I can just imagine wafting along in that.

No idea of prices of these but that seems good value for one with full MOT and everything working.

Dog/tip run car confused

I can't figure out if your humour is more advanced than mine, or if you're being serious?

Well here is my bundle of yellow'ness

It'd been up for sale for over year at the top end of the thread budget, then it popped on an ebay auction listing with no reserve, so I kept my eye on it. Late last week whilst in the pub, I stuck a cheeky last min bid on & hey presto bounce

The 12v system/starter battery was a duffer when I picked it up, so everything died 5m down the road, the dealer kindly stuck a new one in & I limped it back with no main battery assistance thinking it might be a dudd (expensive!) Started it yesterday morning & bingo all systems go & fully charging main battery woohoo.

I currently have a nice blue one that shall now up for sale but have always been after a Citrus as it's called, which were the launch colour cars & the rare'est of them, and its a JDM car which I prefer. Some minor titivation required like a wing mirror to fix & paint some of the black bits, interior is pretty mint. All for within the half the thread budget bounce

It is a bit "in yer face" shout but I quite like it biggrin it did the return journey with no main battery assistance at 60+mpg so it can only get better than that now its all working properly.

I was watching that car - you got a bargain smile
If that was the one of the pavement with the ns next to a wall and the os nearest the road with the rear nearest the camera and no numberplates on it, it may've caught my eye on eBay too.

I'm doubting shed economics if a £500 shed costs five times that over five years in RFL and insurance, so considering cheaper RFL stuff.
I saw (or at least noticed) my first one the other day. Would happily buzz around town in one. I'm sure the rear wheel width is narrower then the front. I know there's a thread about whether the first gen Insight is a petrolhead car, and for me it is. Any car where the manufacturer gives the engineers free reign is IMO.
That looks like great fun. I think I saw that but was too busy - always thought I'd like to try one of these, they are a different engineering solution to the problem.

Massive boot?

Either way, a Vectra C estate would be more suited to having a bootful of crap for the tip/dog

Well that's what I'm thinking. If you want a car to take st to the tip or transport a stinking dog around, surely you'd spend half that and just buy some estate car that you don't care about?
I mean, it's possible the suggestion is that you wouldn't care about the CX much, but I just think it'd be a shame to ruin what is otherwise a very tidy car, and has clearly been loved through its years. Rare too.

Well why not? If I was putting £3-4k into that sort of car, I think would be s wonderful addition to the fleet!

Why so confused?

I see, that makes sense. Of course, I wouldn't set out to ruin it (lots of rubber mats / blankets / plastic sheets), I was thinking more of the practicality of having that sort of spacious car in the mix if you have space for multiple cars.

Of course, a Vectra C would do the job just as well. But if I have a 30 mile round trip for my son's Sunday morning football (normally with a couple of mates blagging a lift) and the pooch fancies running around the field whilst we're there, I think this old girl would do the job rather splendidly smile

Why go out, there is plenty of room in there for the dog to run about inside it without getting muddy smile

Peugeot 505

An equally practical French classic. Granted not as mad as the CX, but just as desirable. Perhaps not a dog or tip car either though ;-)

Annoyed I just missed this:

https://www.gumtree.com/p/toyota/v8-soarer-/120871...

Sold within 24 hours, no doubt soon be for sale at twice the price.

frown

I really want a nice V8 soarer and NOT a green one which means I've just eliminated 99% of Soarers.

That's a good question, why are they always green?

And who was it who decided that gold badges on green would look nice?

Had a few Soarer's my favorites are the last of the 3L that came black on black. The UZZ32 with the Active suspension (very rare) are also the 2nd least produced Toyota of all time after the 2000gt, there is mileage in finding a nice one to keep.
