Sums up the mentality of the modern buyer. A car built for handling now being measured in 1/4 mile times. Amazing. What's next I wonder?

It's not bad sure, but then my lowly crappy polo with 2wd and 150 less bhp can do it In 14.5...
I'd like to see you show us that. Not likely.

Does anyone know if the RS torque is limited to protect the drivetrain in low gears?

It's also quite lardy by hatch standards, so the performance doesn't surprise me. Still a good car.

Yes, annoyingly it is. From memory, it's quite restrictive limits in 1st/2nd as well frown

Never knew that. How much is it limited by?

I can't remember and I'm about to head out for 3-hour journey so no time to look it up. Like I said, I remember looking at the time and thinking it would be much quicker if it could take all the engine could delivery in 1st and 2nd gear. I also wonder if that means upping the power through an official channel (i.e. Mountune) won't yeild any improvement until your into 3rd gear. That would be a deal breaker for me on the MP kit.

Well seeing as people are stating that the civic has terrible traction because it's fwd I guess what I'm trying to say is that the whole argument about 4wd being so amazing off the line (at least in the case of the focus) is proven quite untrue.

Personally when it comes down to it. Im not bothered by either choice. Do I think people are stupid for buying the focus without taking out its competitors first? Well yes I do! That goes vice versa too.

Errr, surely you have seen the drag races between the frs and ctr? Nothing untrue about it.

Not sure if people know this but Ford may be readying a heavily lightened RS soon.

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/even-ho...

It could be well over 100 kilos lighter.
If this happens will we get the agility and nimbleness of the Civic? We may, but its important to realize that part of the issue could be that its simply not possible to make a 4wd chassis that is as fun as FWD. 4wd may just be too composed and efficient for all that? j

You haven't driven one have you. Or any other fun awd car it would seem.

Have you seen any reviews that say its anything but massive fun?

I posted a little test drive review of the RS on the Ford section. Disappointed in it to be honest, but may have been expecting too much after various press reviews.

I'm still waiting to drive one. But I have read many reviews that say it is a little heavy and less nimble than lighter FWD cars. I have found that older lighter Honda type r's have been a bit more fun and nimble feeling than most 4wd cars like the old Impreza and Quattro. Maybe the Integrale, now that was fun to drive, felt very alive, light and nimble.

Why are you so hell bent on everyone agreeing with you, you liked it, you bought it, some others do, some don't

This thread has reached 335d levels of insecurity.

I'm not hell bent on anything. Its just so easy to spot the people that haven't driven one or experienced anything other than looking at it.

Criticise a car for not being fast enough or fun enough sure, but drive it first to form a valid opinion, otherwise what is an opinion based on no experience worth? Can you not see that?

I'm not the one putting a car down that I haven't driven, like so many in here seem to be doing. You seem hell bent on trying to put it down or silence the people that like it and have actually driven it (again probably without driving it yourself?) which seems oddly negative. Why such a grudge against it?
