lick

I want to live in the future that Citroen envisaged.
When these were new I thought them disappointingly unradical, but looking at them now I realise they were just as radical in style as any other Citroen, just differently so.
I have a clear memory of moving one of those Citroen BX's (in 16valver flavour) when I was in car sales from one dealership in Norfolk to one up north - slap magnetic trade plates on bonnet and boot lid and then nail it up the A47...............

Didn't end well

Turns out trade plates are quite expensive when you have to replace them....

And the boot lid is plastic too.

Remember fishtailing a BX GTi belonging to a friend down around a quarter mile stretch of road and him sat giggling in the passenger seat

Possibly, I've been up half the night with my youngest so I'm a little slow today!

Correct - was just a little bit embarasing to arrive at the other dealership and wonder where the trade plates had gone!!!! I didn't know the bonnet and tailgate where plastic - seriously how many cars in the 80's had plastic panels

I keep the "Montego story" for when one gets posted It's filed under memory bank under "actions have consequences" biggrin

I once got stopped by the police on the 31st of July for only having 1 trade plate on an August 1st registered MGF. He did a U turn and pulled me over and read the riot act to me. What he failed to spot was the car I was following only had a front trade plate as we were delivering 2 cars to a customer and had 1 set of trade plates between us laugh

So what's the Montego story biggrin

my 81 Merc had an aluminium bonnet and bootlid, as I found after I bought a magnetic GB badge on the ferry

what exactly does JDM mean in relation to that car, is it actually a different spec to a euro one?

or is it just 'scene'

JDM means Japanese Domestic Market. As the car is for sale in the UK, it would suggest the car has been imported at some point.

Either that, or the geezer has no idea what JDM means, but has heard other people use it on his favoured Ricers forum, and is blindly repeating it. wink

JDM means Japanese Domestic Market, i.e. that car was produced specifically for that market. Sometimes spec differences are minor, sometimes quite substantial - depends on the car.

I did say in relation to that car, cos it doesn't look any different to a boggo euro one

I'd guess it's a UK car looking at the size of the number plate plinth?

I quite like it. Looks very clean, but not a fan of the white wheels. I like the lowered look but not the whole 'scene' that goes with it.
