I'm guessing you mean stock and normally aspirated?
and not these, which is the route I would take over an American V8 any day.

Did you actually check out any of the prices for these turbo kits!!!
Stage 1 = $13,000
Man-up and do it

Expensive, yes, but how much would it cost to buy a crate V8, have it shipped here, have someone fabricate some engine mounts and all the relevant steel work, repaint and protect, find a gearbox, have a propshaft made/machined to suit, a management system, getting said management system to talk to your dashboard, then all the other little things, dicking about with fuel lines, brake servo, your air con and power steering, etc.
points taken. And in answer, no idea. Guess it depends if it's all new or not, I've heard of used LS1 engines, gearbox and ECU going for £2k-2.5k, but it'd still be a lot of work. Unless there are off the shelf kits you can buy, maybe its more common conversion in the US?

Erm, no.
I'm sure it can be done for less though surely?
Personally, I'm just not a fan of fitting cars with engines from other manufacturers. If I wanted a V8 BMW, I'd use an, em, er BMW V8?
There's no denying those old Yank lumps are relatively cheap and effective though.
There's not so old either. The LS1 was a clean sheet design in 1997. And at the end of the day, any 3xxi isn't really a spacial limited edition rare car. So if you like the car and want a faster one, this is certainly one option.I'm sure it can be done for less though surely?

I'm no expert on BMW V8's, but the 4.4 produced around 280hp in stock tune I think. It's also probably heavier, longer, taller, wider and with a worse centre of gravity than the LS1. It's also down 40-60hp in standard tune, makes a lot less torque, isn't as tunable and would cost a lot more to modify.
I'm not saying using one couldn't be good. Morgan seem to use it to good affect in the Aero 8. But I think it'd not bring any advantages over a LS1 and a fair few disadvantages.

Ascari use a BMW V8 to devastating effect.

The one used in the Morgan and previous 645 was about 360bhp.
The M3 unit is over 400.

Needs to be raised an inch or an inch and a half and could afford to lose the sticker in the rear window but otherwise very nice. I love the Spoon look of a yellow or white Civic with a carbon fibre bonnet, great colour contrast.
Loving this. They even haven't overdone the wheels imo.

This is completely adorable! Mid- bike engined baby Fiat, but the engineering is so lovely, pushrod suspension and all!
