The wheels were what told you it was the 6sp top model ( if you couldn't see the badge ). On a white Cavalier you always thought 'unmarked police car' smile

From memory only V6 and Turbo Chavalier and Calibras were 5 stud, everything else was 4 stud. Just realised it was 21 years ago I worked in a Vauxhall parts department eek

I think you're right. Even the Cavalier GSi was 4x100 - hence why 'Cav slab' alloys were so popular on Corsa Bs and Cs

Yes, that 16" design was bespoke to the Turbos though wasn't it?

I think so, yes. Modelled after a spinning turbine I heard. No idea if it's true

Ah, it's a manual.

I suspect the dreaded crankshaft end bearing wear/float. If it's been sorted it should be good for an age tho
Can you tell more about owning a manua Maser 3200?
I almost bought one in 2003 however the scare stories around running costs put me off. 7k for a front wing at a dealer was one that stuck in my mind. I've since heard that they can be sourced far cheaper.

About as cool as it gets, but would they survive the uk climate? I imagine them dissolving as you drive off the ferry.
Scratch my earlier Facel Vega comment. I actually want this. A Lot.

ETA sumptuous insides. Yeah baby.

I love these almost as much as Paolo Martin's other famous big coupe - the Camargue. IIRC, he also designed that Top Trumps favourite, the Ferrari Modulo.

Thinking about it, didn't he also design the Peugeot 604? - So that's another design of his I love!

I have a really soft spot for these. It's been over 10 years since I've owned an 'mg' product which was a stunning maestro turbo with 32k miles, even then good ones were basically gone.

This is very tempting, especially as it is local.....

Well that didn't sit long.......

I'd love one of these...with or without stylish Alpina wheels

Let your insurance broker worry about the cost of front wings. It's not something people tend to buy themselves. I'd be more interested in the cost of brakes, tyres etc.

Hopefully it's better than the 'private' seller is making out.

I haven't......
....yet

I was very close to buying one, did a LOT of research and found that this was an issue that beset the manuals. It's believed to be down to the fact that the engine was designed for an auto box, and the longitudinal forces from the clutch spring mechanism affected the bearing wear.

I'm not sure how true this is, but it seemed to be a common enough issue on GT/Manuals that I decided against it

As I'm getting older, and I've now owned an auto, I could be tempted with an auto box 3200

I still prefer them over the 4200. The rear lights on the 4200 just don't it for me

I must be the exception, all my cars are old so the cost of wings etc are all very relevant. The 3200 were galvanised so rust shouldn't be a major issue, however they're getting on now.
When I was looking at them in 2003 servicing at a main dealer was expensive, around 1k for a minor service and 2.5k for the 68,000 service (which the car I looked at just had) and that was 2003, not far off Ferrari running costs.

Yes Turbo only, V6 had 5 spoke alloys or steels from memory
