Car manufacturer also produces vans shocker...

Nice that you can take the time to recognise that not all generalisations are appropriate to a brand.
For clarity, I don't actually have a beef with the dub scene. Not my cup of tea but as long as you're not hurting anyone, carry on as you were.

However, you said "but if we all drove around in euro boxes with no character what a boring world it would be". VW are the very definition of euro boxes?! Character is very subjective and in my view, massively altering the suspension of your car so that it looks like other dub scene cars is neither characterful or an expression of individuality.

As I say though, other than considering your comment to be a little misplaced, I don't give a rats arse what you do to your car so if it makes you happy, all power to you. beer

Another favourite of mine is the CD hanging from the mirror, perfectly positioned to not only blind the driver when it catches the sun but everyone else in the vicinity as well. This one has extra dangly bits too.

I wonder how people would feel if every time someone saw a Pistonheads sticker there was a thread started and responded to in a similar vain.

"All Pistonheads sticker people speak like they have adenoid issues"
"Look at that guy, he has a sticker so must drive like a dick"
"ahhh, look at him, he must be in the Internets lots and have no wife or children but lots of internet friends"
"look, an internet forum sticker, bet he looks at online porn and plays WOW"
If? I bet that thread exists somewhere on the internet. Maybe Mumsnet.

That's to make you immune to speed detection isn't it? Especially when supported by a genuine dream catcher! Was there a wolf fleece on the back seat????

Commonly found dangling from the rear view mirror of a Toyota Avensis / Honda Civic / Toyota something-you-didn't-even-know-existed.

Like this thread. I drive a lowered VW T5 van with something dangling (but not too much) from the rear view mirror which doesn't conform to any of your other narrow minded stereotypes of stickers, chrome stick on crap, faux surf-ness (although I do surf now and then) etc.

Keep up at the back, have a read of the thread, I think your witty repartee may already have been covered, several times.

I always thought the garlands were an Indian thing that the hippies brought back along with VD from visiting their abstentionist, sex craved gurus in the 60s?

I agree with the chap who made mention of the number of 'ist people on PH. It often reads as if the majority are communists who want everyone to be driving identical Trabants. Personally, I think all scenes, however daft or impractical are good. And in reality, no scene is going to be about adding practicality as that is exactly what the uniform, utility transport manufacturers are all about.

I'm more concerned that some people think it's smart to have their vision obscured by their satnav which leads me to think that they're using that more than looking at the road in front of them.

I saw one of those people on the M40 heading back into Town last night. They'd mounted the screen above the binnacle!!!

Not just obscuring through bulk but that bright screen must be like trying to drive with a torch in your face.

Generally speaking in pretty sure that anything being hung from the mirror or stuck on the screen in such a way as to be line of site is a sign of a bad driver and so treat such things as useful early warning signs that they might be about to do something silly.

It's a useful bit of additional information on top of looking what the badge is on the car. biggrin

I can confirm this. When I was 17 I had some large furry dice (I imagine, the ancient equivalent of these flower things) hanging from the mirror of my Mini, pretty much obscuring all forward vision. And I usually was about to do something silly.

Ah - I get you know. It must have been a long week. I was thinking more like this sort of menu...
