I'm currently trying to sell my car, I've already bought the replacement so it'd be nice to get rid of it and I havent had so much as a single phone call or email about it in over a week of being advertised. It is on here, eBay, and the Volvo owners club forum.

So, is it just a tough time to be selling a car? Or is it just a fluke and does nobody happen to want a Volvo estate at the moment!

Have you tried Autotrader? I know the website is a joke but it's the only way I've been able to sell a car without a load of hassle. Owners club forums are the worst IMHO and Gumtree/eBay is full of timewasters.

The other important point to note is that it seems that everyone is absolutely on-their-arse skint at the moment.

You could always start a thread on the worlds biggest motoring forum and see what interest it generates. wink

What Volvo is it, how much tax and M.O.T, service history, colour, number of owners, price and haggle space?

Seems well priced, good SH in the advert. If I were looking for a sensible dog carrier I wouldn't say it was pricey.

But for many buyers 150,000 miles is the equivalent of a car having bad aids, they all want sub 100k cars for peanuts.

I'm thinning out my Volvo fleet at the moment and managed to sell one of the V70's on Monday after one week of advertising.

Ebay classified ad produced 3 serious cash offers including the buyer.

Properly priced and described is the key I think - i.e. what the market values the car at, not your own target figure.

Good luck anyway.

Shame frown

Good Luck with the sale.
If you haven't already, I'd stick it on the Volvo Owners Club forum (in the classified section)....if it is a good car it will sell no problem at all.

Edit: ah I see you have already put it on there.

Try Gumtree (if you haven't already?) I know it might have a bad reputation for timewasters and the like, but then they all do. Plus it's free! Also a local way of selling your car, so less likely to have people coming from miles away. I've sold 3 cars through them (albeit fairly low value) fairly easily.

Possibly, these engines should go on forever though...

Car and classic is a reasonable place to advertise, it's free and it appeals to the kind of men that buy Volvo estates.

Had my XJ-S up for sale since August, not one call or email. Had it on here and carandclassic.

Things may pick up in the Spring. *fingers crossed*

I hope so, the V70D5 I just bought (for £400!) to use as a daily driver has 225k on it and still sounds/drives really well - so much so I ditched the V70XC in the D5's favour.

That does sound like a lot, considering I paid not a lot more for 51 plate S60 last year with 68,000 miles! Best of luck in selling it though.

Can I just say that's a very nice advert. What with everything very simply and clearly listed and a full extensive list of service history and parts.

As said the only thing I can think of that is putting people off is the mileage and you may need to reduce the price further to tempt people.

The trouble with owners clubs is that everyone on them already has one. And probably another half disassembled in the garage. Worth a punt if free but certainly can't be relied on to find a buyer, same with gumtree.

I posted in this thread asking if anyone else was having difficulty selling a car.

Interest is only just picking up for mine, 4 weeks after the first ad went up!

yeah fair comment.
smile

Although when I'm looking for different car, I always join the relevant forum and scour their classified section.
yeah you end up being a member on all sorts of forums, but you don't have to post on them to view adverts and read-up on the car you are interested in.
