After so many vehicles have been brought back up to date (Beetle, Fiat 500 etc), just for a bit of fun I thought I'd give a stab at the Rover SD1!

Here's the results...

That's brilliant!

Would have to include a "tribute" brown velour interior though.

I think using the new A5 sportback (hatchback thing) would be a better base than an A5, purely because it has the same basic shape as the original SD1! Good effort though smile (Surely a BMW base would be more appropriate than Audi though?!)

However you did it, I wouldn't touch an A5 but that is absolutely spot on.

It looks like it's wearing a gag and is really unhappy about it.

But, well, everyone's a critic and there's no way I could dream of doing anything that good. Thanks for sharing! I for one would love to see the mighty SD1 back on the roads.

If VAG had bought Rover?

Nice rendering skills, not so sure I like the car though.

It looks too much like a Corrado I'm afraid. Any SD1 successor needs to be a 5-door, the 3-door looks too short.

Looks good, but I agree with the previous comment, it should have 5 doors!

I'm not going to criticise as that is a proper effort!

Having owned 2 Special Development cars in the past, it would be great for a new version, SD2?

Looks stunning that..yes

Edit: Just noticed you named it SD-10

Did you model this?, or is it a photo manipulation.

If modelling very nice work!

It's purely photoshop - I only spent an hour, maybe 2 on it as I had to get ready to go out.

Thanks for all the comments! Purely this is just a bit of a luagh so not too serious.
- Originally it was going to be a 5dr (and to be fair it probably should be, respecting the original vehicle etc).

As everyone's picked up, it's based on the A5. I then worked at changing the base outline to meet a smoothed sillouette of the SD1. (If I had done a true update, the front would change considerably but I wanted to let the original shine through as without these details, it could be anything).

I always thought that the shape of the SD1 was crying out to be a Coupe. In my opinion, the 2 side doors look way too short on the original side-profile and this was crying out for a 1 large door and a decent wedge of quarter panel!

Good effort, don't worry about the Audi-esque critics. After all the Beetle is a Golf in disguise, the Fiat 500 a Ka in a frock, the BMW Mini a shortened Chrysler Neon with an expensive bonnet. There aren't any designers any more anyway, just a computer programe churning out clone after clone with different badges. There is a three door prototype SD1 in the British Motor Heritage museum and it would have been made if it was a shorter wheel base.
