I've been looking at TDi Golfs and Boras recently and came across this - quite surprised that someone can do this much mileage in a modern VW. Or is it another example of Trigger's Broom?! biggrin

Blimey, impressive - especially as my brother in law had one with 80k and it was a right old shed and falling to bits!

That is impressive!

Did you see that old Volvo 940 that was approaching 300k on a few threads yesterday?

Yes that's quite impressive, although i've been in - and driven - a VW Sharan (1999 IIRC) 1.9 TDi with 510k(!) ex-minicab/airport job. It was given in as trade for about £50, yes fifty pounds, against an 08 Touran 2.0TDi. It was in ok condition shall we say!

My brother has a 2001 Bora Tdi Sport with I think knocking on for 300k now....inside you'd think it's done 50k

It's been a seriously good car.

We should have a dedicated ‘high mileage spotted’ thread. I remember contacting a seller on eBay about a 1.7 Puma, because he’d omitted the mileage in the auction, and he came back and said 285,000 miles (I doubled checked with him it wasn’t a typo). He never updated the auction with the mileage and it went for £600, IIRC.

You, or rather I, never know how to react with super big mileages. First you think "Jesus!" then you think, well if it's done that then it must be quite strong & well maintained. The price just has to be right though as them' the rules of the market!

Mine too, proper pile of dog poop. Ironically though, we now have a TDI Ibiza which is practically bombproof.

Go over to tdiclub.com, they're are tons of VW models (mostly Jettas) at 400k+ miles. I've seen one or two over 500k+.

Looks like an OK buy actually, and its still owned by the original keeper going by the advert. Wonder what it was used for to incur such high mileage, works out at roughly 40,000 miles a year. Doesn't really seem like the sort of vehicle you'd use as a minicab.

£640 so far - no thanks.

A mate had a 60k Golf of the same era and it felt worn out, a real baggy thing.
