Hi, first post here smile
I want to move on my trusty Jag X-Type on (yes, I am aware that its a Mondeo underneath, I work for Ford smile )
I have children so, no my next car won't be an MX5 hehe I have some requirements for my next car so I do need something decent.
OK, here goes:

Budget: Up to £7,500 - if i get 2k+ for my X Type.
Gearbox: Auto/CVT/DSG (health reasons)
Seats: 5+ (3 kids and wife)
Doors: Preferably 4/5
Must haves:
Leather, heated seats blah blah blah
Optional: Sat nav
0-60: 6 seconds or quicker
Brands: NOT AUDI ( Unless S/RS, I despise them due to bad experiences)
Preferably not Vauxhall, or Chevrolet for that matter hehe

My ideas:
MKV R32
BMW 330/335i/d M-Sport
A**i S4 Avant

Anything much appreciated!!

MK5 R32 all day long. It's soundtrack is one of the best ever, especially for a V6 (well VR6). It's quite discreet and quiet when you want it to be and the total opposite too when you want some fun.

Thanks lads; much appreciated

MK5 R32 - kids love it, watched a few vids of the noise, my god it sounds awesome! And what a coincidence, the place I was looking at for the 330i also has an absolutely beautiful R32 DSG for sale AND an S4 quattro! Oh the joys

Merc E500 - Had a look at these before, my dad has an E240 and it's not really my type. Thanks very much though!

BMW 545i - Good shout, was looking at a proper AC Schnitzer fitted 530d M the other day, however my sister has a boggo 525 dog wagon and it's a bit st if im honest. It's a bit love-hate, they do look quite smart. I am a fan of the ACS, and the 545i looks like a proper motor! Thanks for the suggestion!

Any other ideas, that being said, I do want something that's got poke and looks like it's got poke but not overtly shouty ~ Cupra Ultimate Sub8 with Orange pack, i'm looking at you hehe

MPG isn't a problem; I'm used to receiving 8mpg. 30 looks like a distant dream; let alone 300mpg!

Not sure what sort of mileage or age you're after. So I've been looking at stuff under 60,000 miles and found a couple that might suit. Lexus, the LS 430 and the GS 430 SE / 450H, all auto's, as you'd expect, lots of heated leather, loads of comfort and at or around 0-60 in 6 seconds

Don't get a sodding diesel if you don't care about mpg! You shouldn't even be considering one.

VR6 isn't a very powerful engine. Doubt the Golf is a 6 second car.

335i Touring would be a good shout. Fully loaded with kids and wife and stuff, you'll appreciate the turbo power delivery. (I love NA cars but the 330i is not hugely torquey so would need lots of revs once you add 2-300kilos of people and junk.

To be honest, it's only going to ferry kids to piano lessons and to work up the M25 and back, and i'd rather have a sodding awesome noise on the way there and back.
The 335i is my second choice, I'm off to see the R32 and 335i next weekend (couldn't find time this weekend)
We have a Lexus RX to do the school runs and my trusty P38 to do holidays so I don't need a massive boot but at least there will be some decent legroom in the 335 - however the kids are used to the armchairs with millions of acres for legroom.
Was the 335i Touring available in the 09 model year?

We have a RX300, looking for something with a bit of noise although the GS has poke! Thanks for the suggestion

That's a nice idea but I think its between the 335 and the R32 now. Heart says R32 and 335, head says 120d (courtesy of the missus) hehe

It still won't compare to the R32, but a 335i with a basic exhaust tweak (I think it's removing a bung or something??) sound pretty decent.

Oh bloody hell rofl

We do have a car for that, this is just a weekend kid carrier and other days its just motorway storming up and down for work. I wont drive it every day because I am abroad for a lot of the time for my employers.
