I just realised this evening on the drive home, that I have a strange little OCD-ish type habit when driving.
I was pootling along down the A3, and was approaching a large 'A3' painted in the middle of the lane... I suddenly realised that every time I cross this on my drive home, I HAVE to avoid my tyres touching the '3'...
NO idea where this has come from.
NO idea why I feel this urge.

I started laughing to myself, thinking 'WTF are YOU DOING?'

The more I think about it, the more I am realise that I have different rules for what can and can't be driven over when it's painted on the road.
I never put myself or anyone else in any danger, but I think it's like someone not wanting to walk on the cracks in a pavement. I'm not the slightest bit superstitious, maybe just slightly strange!

I've always avoided touching the cats-eyes when changing lanes as a bit of a challenge, but I've always known I do that... This painted road markings aversion has just crept up on me!

Tell me I'm not alone in this freakish behaviour?

No I'm the same, I can't have a/c on a .5 number and my air vents have to be symmetrical, I also try to cross lines on the road without going over the cats eyes!

Thank God I'm not the only one, I can NEVER bring myself to have the temp set at .5 number. Don't know why, it just really bugs me. laugh

It's because most driving in this country is so boring we find stuff to amuse ourselves while we do another dull journey.

Ah-ha! It's not just me then!
I'm the same with the AC numbers. Not so fussed about the vents being symmetrical. They just have to be pointed somewhere functional!
I'm trying to work out when the painted number avoidance started...

Ah, now, I actually have to have the air con on a .5!

Something about, it's a waste of the .5 settings otherwise...

The heater temp dial/knob has to be maximum or minimum. Never on the middle ground.

OK - the analysis is starting now...
I'm thinking that the 'horizontal' parts of the '3' in 'A3' make me not want to drive over them... Not a problem with the 'A' because it's kind of pointing in the right direction!

I don't like those painted lines across some roads when entering a lower speed limit... you HAVE to drive over those.

Maybe I just need a car with softer suspension?!

thank god I'm not the only one that does this!

I have to have the dual climate on exactly the same setting (to the .5 Deg) for each side also all vents have to be facing the "right" way... the variable speed intermittent wipers always get put back to there "halfway" setting before switching off.... I put the heated seat (drivers side one only) on "1" before turning off too so it warms up as soon as he car is started first thing in the morning

biggrin it's my car, I'll have it the way I want it tongue out

I can't have the dual-zone climate control set to different temperatures, thus defeating the point of it.

The missus knows this, and changes her side every time she gets in.
Then she moves the airvent.
Then she makes the fag lighter wonky.
Hnnngggg.

Right, enough of the half-arsed OCD stuff... does no-one else have any 'rules' about driving over certain numerals?!
Beginning to think I have issues!

Cats eyes, oh yes.

It also irks me to come to a full stop when I need not.

Obviously blind turns etc one has to but trying to time traffic lights, traffic queues etc.

If both windows are down, they have to be symmetrical. I know, I'm a geek.

Never have 13 on the stereo.

Annoying as it appears to be the optimal volume.

Ok, bare with me. I'm a drummer so this probably helps. But...

When listening to a song on the radio, I adjust the car's speed so each beat hits a streetlight (or lane marking).

I, too, cannot have a 0.5 degree setting on the climate control. The cigarette lighter has to be straight too.
