Passed Trailer test, looking for trailer
Discussion
Passed my trailer test today first time at the grand old age of 20.
Looking to buy a car transporter trailer, got around £2k to spend at most.
Guessing some sort of Ifor Williams trailer is the way forward? Looking for it to be able to have a max 3500kgs (same as licence and what my Range Rover will tow).
What would you go for?

If your interested, I have a 2.8t trailer I'm thinking of selling. It's 3 axle, so stable you could keep horses in it, and it's been all over the country picking up cars (and once a tractor, and a mini digger). All 3 axles are braked, and it works well.
It's had a fair few repairs over the years, but is 6'6'' wide, and about 4.6m long. Be about £900

Looking for one more this style

Mums got a huge Ifor Williams plant trailer with removable sides and ramps but its just not great for towing on the motorways as its so high up for the aerodynamics.
Expecting to do quite a bit of mileage with it hence a newish trailer.

How much weight do you expect to put on the trailer ?http://www.gumtree.com/p/other-vans-plants-trucks/...

Really do need the max weight I can get.
May even be pushing it if I was to put a RR l322 on it I think.

I'm pretty sure you could get brand new versions of all those if you go direct to the manufacturer and see what they will offer, try looking at car or county shows. My uncle paid less than the asking price for a new Ifor Williams 3500 that Trident are offering. When I bought my new Brian James trailer I paid the same or less than I'd seen S/H versions for sale.still over budget but not as much = http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/112930236/c...

Also beware of buying S/H as there is some very dodgy stuff out there, I once drove all the way from London to Macclesfield looking at a trailer advertised on here that on inspection looked very dubious, even down to being covered in a rental companies logos plus it was well over priced.

Picked up a pricing sheet from there local place. Comes in at £3100 for the standard trailer, what sort of discounts were you talking?

You'd have to phone up and see what they'll do but at shows manufacturers always seem to offer significant discounts, when I bought my Brian James trailer I paid £1500 for a £2K trailer although that was a cancelled order and I just happened to phone at the right time. I'd go direct rather than a third party supplier.Picked up a pricing sheet from there local place. Comes in at £3100 for the standard trailer, what sort of discounts were you talking?
Good luck !
I was looking for similar and found the Ifor Williams ones were just too expensive.
I called the local manufacturers and even their ex demo trailers were £2500+VAT
I waited and found a tilting Bateman on Ebay for £1000 it will only take 2600kg but that was enough for me, I think you'll be lucky to find any decent 3500kg car trailer for sub £2000 let alone new.

trailer electrics are very simple.
i'd deffo go for a tilt bed if you can. this looks good value with the winch:

Link isn't working.http://www.gumtree.com/p/other-car-parts-accessori...
Elecs are very simple, fit LED lights to avoid continual issues with water / poor connections.
