Here we go again; another market snapshot.

I usually just target the 'Petrolhead metal', but have tried to include some more fleet-type cars today, especially if the cars have been the part of discussions in General Gassing over the last week.

The good news for buyers today, was that Mercedes Benz UK clearly needed a shot to their current account and were pretty much accepting all bids for their cars.

What else did I learn today ... erm... oh yeah.... Vauxhall Vectras, of any age, are worth 12p.

Remember this horrid little fella? The 99/V Z3 1.9 in vomit green.

You'll recall that the last time it was put up for sale, the highest bid was £4,000 and the vendor turned it down. Back in front of the block today; highest bid was a more sensible £3,150. The vendor will be pleased! I still don't think it's worth more than £2,500, but each to their own.

Right, here we go with some details:

2005 05 Peugeot 407 1.6 HDI SE Estate. 95k. £2,800 SOLD

2005 55 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi Ghia 115bhp. 33k. £5,000 SOLD

2005 05 Audi A6 3.0 TDi Quattro SE Tip Auto. 68k. £7,900 provisional

A car like Jezza's in last week's TG. In the best trim level too!

2005 05 Jaguar XJ 2.7 TDVi Sport Premium. 72k. £9,500 provisional

Sorry about the shaky pic on this one. Very tidy car, with nice wheels!

2005 05 Audi A3 2.0 TDI Sport 140bhp. 62k. £6,950 SOLD

An Audi for the missus wink

2004 04 Audi A3 1.9 TDi SE 105 bhp. 83k. £4,875 SOLD

Cheap summer motoring confused

2004 54 Mini Cooper Convertible. 85k. £5,150 SOLD.

A Cooper S in boy's colours wink

2005 05 Mini Cooper S 170bhp. 100k. £5,150 provisional

A bit of a story on this one. It went through and sold for £10,100. Twenty minutes later it was back; the auctioneer announcing that the vehicle was, in fact, flood damaged and had had to have a new engine as a result. With this info, it still sold for only two hundred quid less!

2005 05 BMW X5 3.0D Sport. 98k. £9,900 SOLD

Christmas pressie for the missus?

2004 54 Mini Cooper with Chilli Pack. 40k. £6,000 SOLD (to private buyer)

These are becoming such good value. The paintwork on this one was muddy, not chipped!

2005 55 BMW 120D SE Auto. 67k. £6,800 provisional

2005 55 Mazda RX-8 231bhp. 24k. £6,600 provisional

2007 07 BMW 320i SE 170bhp Coupe. £12,700 SOLD

2005 55 Mazda RX-8 192bhp. 29k. £5,500 provisional

2007 07 BMW 320d SE Saloon. 43k. £10,000 provisional

(Admission. I didn't even know that this model existed!)

2007 07 Volvo XC90 4.4 V8 SE Sport. 10k. £13,000 provisional

2005 55 Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi Ghia 136bhp Hatchback. 82k. £4,100 SOLD

2005 05 BMW 118D ES. 49k. £6,700 provisional.

Attention cartographers!

2007 07 BMW 335D SE Auto Coupe. 24k. £19,700 SOLD

This was a very pretty little car!

2004 04 BMW 318 Ci Sport Coupe. 68k. £7,150 SOLD

Gleaming example. Great Xmas pressie for the missus!

2007 07 BMW 118d SE. 15k. £10,750 SOLD

2005 55 Jaguar X-Type 2.0D Sport. 84k. £4.600 SOLD

I'm quite a fan of the 'new white' BMW are using. This was very bright!

2007 07 BMW 118D ES Step Auto. 25k. £10,400 provisional

Someone was asking abotu Brabus Smart cars. Quite rare, but I found one smile

2005 55 Smart ForTwo Brabus. 16k. £6,000 SOLD

Remember the episode of Fifth Gear where the young hippy bloke tested the S-Class Mercs with 'The Face' from the A-Team? Well here's his suggested car; the entry-level motor.

Amazing value. I'd love one! The V8 only made it to the UK market in 07 I believe.

Thanks again for the report, all very interesting! Wish I was in the market for some of that stuff, the big engined 4x4's (Merc ML and Volvo XC90) are a bargain, if you like that kind of thing.

hehe

A cynic might say that wink

There was actually quite furious bidding last week.

I don't know why peope put cars in for a second time. I have never seen a car make more on its second (or more) appearance than it did first time round.

Main dealer p/ex too. You'd think they'd know better; first loss etc.

Cheers for the report, makes interesting reading.

Some bargains there, but at the same time some cars going for more than what I would say they are worth like the Z3 and 1.8 TDCI Focus.

Did the 320 coupe 170bhp not sell, I didnt see a price by that one?

That makes it about £5k behind book!! And there are dealers trying to get £22k+ for this engine/spec on autotrader!!! Fortunately for me, we are in the market for a XC90...

V8 - many thanks for the time and effort (again). Did the xc90 look straight?

I agree, nice to see I'm not the only one who would take a BMW 320d or 520d over an XJ diesel.

It did, though I didn't 'inspect' it. It was certainly straight. The colour hides scratches well too.

I got the feeling it would have needed a bid of £15k to buy it.
