I found a reversing lens in a horrible bargain shop the other - obviously designed for a hatchback do would make the perfect addition to a saloon.
Incidentally I would only remove the rear headrests. Although, this would mean the walking stick, tissues and trilby might move erratically. Perhaps they'd better stay.

In my defence, in Cornwall we don't see many Mercedes sold so the mature fellow with a taste for comfort and an eye for accessories would be more likely to crawl about in The Armchair.
Anyway, my next purchases are going to be grill badges, dashboard compass, pipe holder and a tartan flask. With white lid / cup.

Funnily enough I did find some sheepskin carpet at work but regrettably not enough to work with. The car actually came with an Axminster offcut which served as a passenger footwell carpet mat. It has been retained.

A bit of an update. I have acquired a ghastly steering wheel cover and a chromed RAC grill badge. The only issue with the badge is that it is too big to fit on the grill as it is too tall. One of my colleagues has suggested a badge bar, that would somehow attach to the front of the car and where I could display my Caravan Club and RAC badges, proudly.

It's been a long time since any update, but I fancy a change of pensioner chariot, and wondered what the consensus would be for the ultimate gribble conveyance. I thought that, if I could find one, a Talbot Tagora would be perfect - the ideal combination of understated yet appalling styling, uneconomical and unreliable. Any thoughts please?
Once "The Armchair" is cleaned I will put up photos of the latest acquisitions - 2010,2011,2012 National Trust window stickers, Caravan Club sticker - it's getting so silly that I am starting to struggle to see out of the windscreen due to obsolete club memorabilia - the weirdest being Truro Diocesan Bellringer's Club window stickers taken from a scrapper that came in at work.
The boot has some Axminster carpet to protect the floor lining. A colleague of mine found a tartan umbrella to match the rug on the back seat. Luckily they will all transfer nicely to the next grandad wagon. I am sorely tempted to take this one to a show and shine, once I have acquired the appropriate chrome detailing - number plate surrounds, wheelarch trims etc.

Ah, but this is the genius of it!! There is nothing attached or permanent, everything is easily removeable with no issue. There are only window stickers and one sticker in the filler cap. I'm putting it up for sale in April once it's had its MOT. I need a much less good car to destroy in my pursuit of retirement perfection. Of course everything from the umbrella to the obsolete handbooks and maps are negotiable :-)
I had almost forgotten about this. The 406 is sadly no longer in my possession but I see it every day - and brilliantly, the cable ties on the alloys are still in place, proud and pointless. I did keep the accessories that made the chariot what it was - tartan rug with matching thermos, sweet jar for your Werther's, obsolete maps and AA handbooks, Hammond organ cassettes, one of the two sets of mats, the walking stick, the trilby, the Kleenex man-sized tissues, the offcut of ghastly Axminster for the boot. It was great car and I would be tempted to give it another go, if I could find a suitable replacement, but I suspect the combination of colour and interior probably won't come up again.
