Does the door sticker from my trip to Le Mans count if I slap that on my t-shirt

Just a quick one. Great to see so many PH'ers there.. I think we dished out 30 or 40 freebies. I'm not sure if we'll be invited back though .

It all started at the campsite on Sunday morning at Oh My God o clock. We were woken by the caterers getting up, and as we stood around in the wind and the rain, we got to wondering how much the event would be enhanced by the Rover going up the hill (even if no one could see it).

In all fairness, we didn't need much convincing, so it wasn't long (about 2.6 seconds) before we all agreed that of course, that the event would be all the better for our presence on the hallowed tarmac. So with *** and **** in the Rolls playing chase (ha) to ******* and ** in the Rover, we executed our covert insertion with ruthless efficiency.

The circuit was clear and closed, and we played it safe but Charlie and I still attracted the ire of those who must be obeyed (they with the flashing lights) and we had to hide the Rover in the Paddock at one point. Hey, where would YOU hide an oak tree?

Talk about 'there goes the neighbourhood'. Video of the ascent to follow. With apologies to M'Lud, I hope we didn't awake you sir.

I came over and said hi, god knows who I spoke to though. Was asking him if he had been down at Le Mans as I had also camped in Houx Annexe with the famous Roller. Great to hear "the big one" running. Awesome.

I saw (and heard) the Rover skulking around the paddock on Sunday morning - I had wondered what you were doing there!.

(I rather suspect the Earl might secretly have approved)

I saw both of these cars with my PH t-shirt on, but sadly had not seen this thread prior!

I was their at 10am on the Saturday to witness the Rover fire up. It had no side pipes as they were not finished in time but it wasn't as loud as you would imagine, a deep low rumble which grew as the revs rose but never what you would call extreme. Spoke with Will for sometime and enjoyed meeting Charlie who clearly is on that line between genius and madness when it comes to what is possible with a car.

Spax, Simes and Ettore,

It has a certain resonance doesn't it? Its not just about the volume, more the low frequencies that it hurls out.

Sorry you didn't see the thread, if you were there and didn't bag a T, e-mail me (al@ppcmag.co.uk) and I'll put one in the post. I'll limit it to the first 5 responses, if thats ok.

You're right about secret approval I think. He went 2's up on a Duke, at a speed which I wouldn't have.

Only after he let his daughter try it out first!! It was a great day (shame about the rain Sunday morning and then getting sun-burnt in the afternoon!). I also saw the Rover without having seen this thread. What a beast she is.

Highlight for me was the F1 Tyrell 001 (1970), its just my era!!
