Neville, that is a beauty! I'd love a mk1 MR2, maybe a supercharged one! As a mk2 Turbo owner, I am in the thrall of the MR2. I don't believe you can have more fun for your money, put quite simply. Even the revered MX5 (which I have also owned) feels slightly dull after an MR2!

Don't get me wrong the MR2s are great cars, but I've not long since owned an MR2 Turbo and am now tooling around in a UK Mk1 MX5.... and I wouldn't say it was dull in comparison. Not as fast, sure, but it certainly feels gutsy enough and no driver aids, not even PAS, and it is much more fleet of foot than the MR2 (Mk2).

I'd liken a Mk2 MR2 as more of a 2-seat GT car, the Mk1 is more of a B-road blaster, it just feels a lot lighter and easier to fool around in. The MR2 rewards smooth driving, but so can the MX5.

The Mk1 is the MR2 I'd go for if I ever re-visited. Closer in spirit IMO.

I loved my mk1, if I could get a Supercharger imported in A1 condition from Japan I'd revisit the mk1. As it is I now just want my mk3 back from Rogue.

Forgot how good the MK1 looks compared to the MK2.

yes

I remember saying that the day I first saw one - when I was about 8 years old.

I still want to visit Mk1 MR2 ownership. I had planned to before an Elise, but skipped it.
