Cars that are hard to own because of theft?

They seem to think my Astra is at high risk from theft. Until this week I've not heard much about cars being stolen since the 90s,other than high value organised stuff and thefts from vehicles. The only 2 fairly recently that I've heard of were both getaway vehices. Someone near my parents house tried to nick a Peugeot 306 GTI a few years ago after they'd murdered someone down the road to get away from the police but it ran out of fuel in the chase and they got caught. The second one was this week where my next door neighbour's Mreg MK3 Golf, either a GTI or a VR6 not sure which but it was a 5door was stolen and used in an armed robbery, slightly unnerving as it was parked outside my ground floor bedroom window next to my car when it was taken. I assume they picked it due to being fairly quick but also having an older security system.

Interesting until I saw the figures for Morris - 36 thefts per 10,000 vehicles...........???Paul O said:
I thought Audi's were the theifs favourite these days? I have no factual information on which to base that though, just things I've read and cop shows watched, it seems they are well liked
Round here in SW London, they just seem to steal the bucket seats from the Audi and leave the rest of the car..There's a video here of thieves stealing an Audi RS4 from someone's driveway in the middle of the night using a computer software device which fools the onboard computer into thinking the correct key is inserted in the dash. http://www.driving.co.uk/features/gone-in-90-secon...
The guy who's car it is talks a bit about it on this forum thread.

There are devices you can buy on Ebay which generally keep a step ahead of the anti-theft equipment manufacturers use in their cars.

They seem to think my Astra is at high risk from theft. fast 4 seater's are popular with crims for get away cars but in reality the number of thefts is very small, especially to the good old days
the last lot of statistics i viewed showed it was diesel 4*4s that where top of the theft list for being exported, with black X5s being the preferred choice

Clearly no self respecting criminal would be seen dead in an Alfa Romeo (presumably because of the risk of breaking down in the midst of a bank job), therefore I am classified as 'very low risk ' mcflurry said:

Fortunately for a neighbour, he's got the comfort seats in his RS4.
