That is some overspeed. Sounds like he'll be going 1000mph, sideways
Should it read "10,200RPM"?That is some overspeed. Sounds like he'll be going 1000mph, sideways
It's an amazing project. Utterly bonkers.

How about all the major players in the world chip in for a form of runway similar to the 'Maglev' system of locked in drivetrain to rail, so there's no chance of flipping or losing control. The prestige would still come from being the fastest on this 'track' with a greatly reduced risk of certain death ?

This is a fantastic project and it is encouraging the new generation of engineers through being so open about how and why they are doing things. Just a couple of very minor points I have spotted in the article (as a scientist!) The wheels are rotating at 10,200 rpm not mph and the drag on an item increases as a function of the square of the speed not the square root but I am being really picky as it is a great article, I particularly like that a Jag V8 is being used as the oxidiser pump motor!!.

For such a massive website, it's pretty poor they can't get someone, or perhaps it's someone useful, to proof read articles. What's the point in posting such interesting technical articles if they're just wrong?
I feel like we're all being a little pedantic here (myself included).Although it is somewhat ironic. If I were Andy green (which I'm not, my brass ones are way too small) I'd want as many pedants chipping in as possible.
This is an amazing and inspiring project. Best of British to all involved!

Indeed. Bit of a typo there me thinks.harryowl said:
