She's fine - pretty upset as you'd imagine.

finally managed to pull a policeman off the street myself last night.

turns out he's shot at a number of people, houses, cars etc in the area. including a young child in the face- lucky not to be blinded.

Words fail me....

Indeed. And for hit and runs (to get back to the original thread- apologies for the hijack). It's just a case of finding a member of the local constabulary who agrees, unfortunately- it is, of course, much easier to boost conviction rates by targeting easy crimes......like speeding, for example.

I had something similar happen to me a few years ago, sat in car waiting for the other half to finish work, parked legally, an old boy drives into bay next to me clipping the rear of my car, cracking the rear bumper. He calmly reverses out of bay drives off and parks a bit further down the car park. I'm out of the car and inspecting the damage as he walks past, he stops, looks at damage, and makes comment something along the lines of "Looks an expensive repair, can't trust anyone these days" I explain I was in the car when he had hit me, and the incident had been caught on the stores cctv camera. He eventually appologised said he would pay for damage to be repaired, true to his word he paid the final bill.
It may be worth looking around the area to see if the guilty part has been caught on anyones cctv, its a long shot, but worh a try.

The thing is if you slap them with the said bar I am sure that you will probably get nicked for carrying an offensive weapon. However have you tried unloading a powder fire extinguisher in there face? its going to really ruin ther day and you wont get done for carrying one especially in your car! Haven't tested this theory yet but will keep you posted

Ooh, got one of those as well considering I am part of the group that never listens to the radio but the marvelous sound system he has under his bonnet and is panicked by every strange new noise my car makes.

I would say you could get away with carrying one (Breaker Bar) as it is a tool after all.

CCTV? Hah! They probably wouldn't let you use it as evidence as it "invaded" the old fecker's privacy and contravened the Data Protection Act!!
