Fuelling issue - air lock??

I have a '55 Morris Minor and suspect I have a similar "airlock" problem.
The car starts without any difficulty but if I go over 30mph and up even the slightest incline the engine starts to splutter as though it is running out of fuel. If I reduce the speed to 25mph then the engine is smooth again.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
