Hmmm. DMS will do you a remap on the "basic" C63 AMG and liberate 550bhp from it. I doubt this will be worth the extra outlay. (IIRC the normal lump in the C63 is the same as in the E63 but detuned some, so you can relatively easily tune it back upwards.)
Wouldn't and indeed shouldn't it worry you that Merc put stronger internals into all their tuned 6.2V8's yet DMS seem quite happy to release an additional 100hp on the standard internals.AFAIA only the c63 (standard tune) doesn't run the stronger internals but all the others C63ppp/E/S/SLS/CLS etc... do.

I would also doubt that you'd actually get 550bhp from a DMS (or AN Other) remap. Even the SLS only has a smidgen more than 550bhp and that has an engine with considerable hardware upgrades compared to the standard M156 in the C63 et al. Things like fancy air intakes, better cooling, long tube manifolds etc etc. And some reckon a 'remap' manages to deliver the same??
Happy to be proved wrong but I reckon a 'mapped' C63 (and I mean just a remap) with 550bhp claim would be not one jot quicker than this '507' or even the PPP 487bhp version in real life. And on a set of rollers (that didn't belong to the mapping company involved, once a few tweaks to the calculations have been made ), I doubt it would get anywhere near the claims.
Sorry but I'm just very sceptical of remaps on any N/A car after wasting too much time and money on too many occasions only to feel absolutely no difference (and when put on independent rollers for curiosities sake, that feeling of being shafted being well and truly confirmed!). One of the few exceptions is the standard 457bhp C63 - that car is widely regarded as artificially held back so is relatively easy to liberate the extra few horses to take it to the 500bhp mark.

Another AMG variant just to annoy those people who just bought the previous variant.
Once upon a time then released one AMG version per model generation. Now, its a normal AMG, 'S", Power, 'Black', 507; all adds up to getting more money out of the "I see you coming crowd" and trying to make it better than a M3/5 or the new Jag or whatever!
I bet all those tuning extras make is harder and less refined than the stock AMG, which is already harsh and a pain in the arse to use in the pot holed congested streets of Britain.
Next week they will be releasing "AMG Grey Squirrel"!!

I really dont think these have any need at all for an alternative exhaust, they are more then fruity enough even as a stock C63!
I've heard a stock C63 in person and it was a bit quiet for my tastes, though I expect the 507 / Black is a bit better. I was lucky enough to see a Brabus in person though, and that sounded absolutely thunderous. I know it's not to everyone's taste, but if I was buying a daft car like a Black / 507 (if only!), a straight through system with electronic valves would be the first thing I'd do after I left the dealers I think.at risk of over staying my welcome with blog links:

I'm not sure this isn't just a cynical marketing ploy.
But on a positive note I did inadvertantly do a huge power slide on Park Lane today just as the chap from Mercedes said I would...

I love the engine note and madness of it but hate the styling.
Modern Mercs are fking horrible.
Ditto this, except the engine note... E9x M3 much more of a liking to my ears. I get Mercs, what they're about and I love that they make mad stuff, alas they just leave me cold.Modern Mercs are fking horrible.
MERCEDES C63 modified by Kleeman's......dont bother spending a fortune on a Black Series, when you can have just as much if not more from a K1 mod from Kleeman's, I had mine done as soon as I bought my car and 2 years down the line its as quick as a black series all for £1300, the performance is truly outstanding, the acceleration just doen't drop off, petrol consumption suffers a little, but its not exactly frugal in standard form, a small price to pay, I noticed immediately that the rims had such low profile tyres it was not going to be long before the rims were damaged, so I had alloygators fitted, they are brilliant, I have had one replaced as I hit a curb, but the rim was undamaged, so they do their job very well, but be advised dont try and fit hem yourself, pay a fitter, they are difficult to fit due to the profile. I welcome chat....Alan C63
