It's not a shooting brake, it's not a shooting brake, it's not a shooting brake, it's not a shooting brake

A 2-door, 4x4 hybrid which might actually be capable of coping with the rutted cart tracks the UK calls its main roads these days....

'Shooting Brake' is rather pretentious though, I agree.

Not bad looking either, apart from an overly fussy rear, silly grille and horrid wheels.....

Like it. Design would work as a small 2door hatch as well.

That looks absolutely godawful. How cringeworthy is that flat-bottom steering wheel in this school-run bus!?

They stole the styling from the Renault Megane with the bustlebutt.

What a load of cobblers..

The original allroad has been the best car i've ever owned.. i've had it for 5 years done over 100k it in, towed cars with it, taken it offroad, long comfy jaunts, moved house with it many times, seriously the best allrounder and I can't think of anything else i'd replace it with. plenty of poke with a nice v6 diesel thrum.. the air suspension means it rides sooo nicely and can adjust it up and down for decent ground clearance... driveshafts were upgraded over the a6 as well as underbody protection, bigger brakes, air suspension, even a low range gearbox if you wanted it..

the a4 allroad seems to just be an a4 with a bodykit and this new thing just another niche to fill.. poor show audi..

oh and even took it on a drift day for a laugh when it started raining...

and fun in the snow too..

Widely mocked at the time of release, but clearly the styling was ahead of it's time.

What do you call 10 marketing wonks at the bottom of the ocean? A start.

So what we have here is a tarted-up, jacked-up Golf, with hybrid drive and more power and torque than an E39 M5... right, that makes sense... Mr Audi, could you please ditch the hybrid drive and put in a 150hp 1-litre 3-cylinder turbo, a manual 'box and 2WD? It'd probably weigh half a ton less. That or build us a proper small utilitarian 4x4 like a Suzuki Jimny, only less of a style disaster.

QUITE! Had this argument over on the "Tell me I'm wrong" M5 thread the other day. Great cars come from individual vision, not marketing bks.

It looks good for an Audi. I don't think the finished product will be quite as sharp, I also think they're going to need to introduce 5-doors to cater for our better halves and children. Which, will undoubtably take away from the original styling.

Nice though yes.

So you want a Q3?

It's far nicer looking than a Q3, I'm not interested in any Audi. They don't make me want...
I can't see them doing this without 6 months down the line going for 5 doors. Which, yes, will pretty much be a Q3, but it wont be called a Q3, and it'll be more expensive.

Don't see it making it to a convertible, but for sure they will do an RS.
I'd like to see it in white.

If they make a 5-door TT Quattro shooting brake and a Q3, that really will be pushing the limits of micro-niching!
