I own one of Mitsubishis offerings from this era..A 1996 mirage asti.
1.6 170bhp(ish) naturally aspirated, weighs in at about 1060kg, it's basically a coupe variant of the CJ colt cyborg.
8500rpm redline is an awful lot of fun (0-60 in 6.8 or so), spending vast sums of money getting it back to a decent standard, less so.
I would heartily recommend it to anyone into retro jap stuff, parts are quite cheap and easy to source in the main, it does 26-28mpg even if you drive it like a loon and spend lots of time in the MIVEC range. The main issue with them is rust, and the gearboxes can be a bit iffy.
I remember reading a twin test of the 306 Rallye against a Colt Cyborg - surely a great name for a hot hatch ( although only judged to be warm nowadays ) of that time.1.6 170bhp(ish) naturally aspirated, weighs in at about 1060kg, it's basically a coupe variant of the CJ colt cyborg.

I'll dig it out a bit later
I have a mk1 mr2 which I fitted with a JDM Corolla engine. 165 hp / 970 kg.
No it won't outrun v8s or modern turbo cars, but it's fast enough for fun, and very nimble.
A friend had one of the Diahatsu 3 cylinder turbos back when they were new - it was like a roller skate on amphetamines. Huge fun.
