Wow !
I took a picture of this very car at Brands in 1987 (I would have been nine !) at the Shell Gemini 1000kms sportscar race. I remember the personal plate.
It was parked along the pit straight next to what is now the grandstand terracing. Looked cool at the time, glad to see it still does :-)

As others have said top car top bloke - I have a 924cgt that I've owned since '95 - I blew it up a few years back and it sat in the back of the garage for a few years but I rebuilt it over the winter of 08-09 and took it down to the Le Mans Classic. I stayed at the same place as Derek and we had a good chat about how great these cars can be. For a 30+ car they keep up pretty well and if you set them up right they corner on rails... As for the fun factor I get more smiles driving mine on the road than my newer GT3 in which everything seems to happen too fast!!!! But then perhaps I'm just getting old. If you can find a good "proper" one they are great value and so much fun, but beware there are quite a few fakes out there.... When looking for bits for mine I found that there is a good supply of most things as Porsche raided the 911 bin for parts but there are a few bespoke items that are now very difficult to find such as the front brake cooling ducts which are missing from mine so if anyone out there has a set please PM me?

Very nice. I still love the basic shape. I think if these had been sold as VW's or Audi's people would love them a lot more.
Really? I think people like them a lot anyway, not less because they're a Porsche. Porsche do excellent turbo cars, even the 911 is synonymous with turbo charging hence the eternal range-toppers for the last 30 yearsEdited by s m on Sunday 11th December 08:59

For my part, I would prefer the GTS to the 968 or the 944 Turbo for handling and weight reduction: 1120-1135 kg (2469-2502 lbs). (968, 3100lbs, 944 Turbo 2998lbs). Five hundred pounds less weight means far better balance, handling, braking and performance.
Thankyou ever so for outlining your feelings and dispersing any ambiguity surrounding the matter. Now for the next mystery - why on Earth did you revive a thread that had been dead for over 10 years...?
