I think it lacks any kind of side profile shape or flow. It's quite barge like and looks huge because of that.

Not really a fan from the photos but seeing it in real life could change my mind! Not that it's ever likely to happen...

I think a fair bit of the Concept CS made it to the production 6er "Gran Coupe", particularly the hockey-stick-shaped line along the doors.




As for this new concept, I think, overall, it looks good. I like the idea of the return of a V12 powered, elegant big coupe like the 8er. I also love the interior; looks utterly plush! The front end needs work, though.

if it's like the 8 series then it'll be based on the 7 series, not the 5 (like the 6)

The 'hockey-stick-shaped-line' is on the 2 door F12/F13 6ers. The 6GC inherited it from its siblings.

It's more pronounced in the GC pics in part because of the matt frozen bronze colour they used so prevasively in the publicity shots and it's a few inches longer.

What I really, really don't understand about BMW is why they don't build a 911/R8 Rival. Audi managed to build a car which instantly had credibility in that sector. You'd think BMW with it's acknowledged chassis and engine expertise could easily produce a modern day M1. The M6 has been a sales disaster....build a proper sports car BMW!

I think the i8 is going to be this but admittedly it is taking very long to bring it to market, although it is a high tech hybrid thing. Better just to fit in with the 4.4 V8 and be done in my opinion.

So many times nicer looking than a Merc S class (completly lost the plot, an old 600 Grosser is nicer), if it can outdo the top 7 series which I was driven in last year ( Mpack, rear steer etc. etc. ) then it would be fabulous. A sort of Rolls Ghost coupe.
