write a note that says "just checking" then put your head phones on and every time you shag his missus your mum will leave a biscuit

At the end of my drive. They might have spotted my Tomtom mount, stuck to the dash.
TBH even with a note, if they see the Tomtom mount in the car they will just assume that you've left the tomtom in there. That's what we were told by the cops when my wife's car window was smashed a few years back.
The thieving git just smashed the passenger window & opened the glove box to check it was in there (luckily it wasn't) Left my CD's too so clearly didn't like my taste in music!

Yeah my mate once had a car and he left the note...

Seriously, three times in four pages, that must be a new record for "my mate" repeated stories on PH.

My replacement grille for the one stolen from my old e36 BMW has arrived this morning. Cost about £11 incl postage.

Why the fek someone stole that beats but I suppose even if they get a couple of quid for it, it's worth it to them. Just a shame they have damaged the metal surround with whatever tool they used to prise it out with.

Idiots, it comes out with a gentle tug with your fingers.

Or even if they see the ring left by the sucker on the windscreen if you park in very dodgy areas.

when i was younger and had cars that were hotwireable i used a stop lock, this just forced the scrotes onto the metro or whatever parked next door.

What I often did was alarm it but leave it unlocked

this way if the door was opened it would start the alarm.

This is clearly better than having your window put in/ lock smashed/ door bent etc

On cars that didnt have an alarm a good trick was to wire a 12v siren / horn into the interior light circuit

so if the boot or any door was opened it would beep! Very simple, very effective, but has its limitations, you cant set it up outside your parents house etc! (the boot one you can)

I often find the damage caused by the break in costs more than the items they end up taking
