WTF is wrong with all the people whingeing about the leds???
The simple fact is eu legislation soon coming into force will require all cars to have daytime running leds...
Audi have simply got ahead of the game and decided to use them as part of their design and styling features which sets them aside from other marque competitors like bmw and merc and in theory also lowers their costs of manufacture and design.
I personally think the led lights that are being fitted these days are great. At least other motorists will actually notice the drivers of the cars with leds fitted.
EU legislation is for DRL's Daytime Running Lights, not leds what Halford sell, innit. The simple fact is eu legislation soon coming into force will require all cars to have daytime running leds...

Not any more! http://www.astonmartin.com/thecompany/news?a=cd8cb...you're thinking of aston using a lola chassis for 'their' lmp1
I wasn't going to reply, but I'd just like to add my lone voice, since nobody else seems to have noticed: this car looks st. If I saw it in my rear view mirror, I would laugh. I actually have some difficulty believing that there were adults involved in the creation of this.
It's like the hero's car from some nonsense film for teenage boys where the guy's like a cyborg vampire werewolf killer with a trenchcoat and he fights werewolves and sharks and authority figures with a sword and a machinegun that shoots like bullets that have fking FLAMES coming out of the back and in one bit he lights his cigarette off one.
Not saying I wouldn't take it for a test drive... I'm sure it's awesome from behind the wheel! (Not sure about the visibility at roundabouts though...)

Would this thing lap any faster than an F1 car?
No it will be more than 10 seconds a lap slower at somewhere like Silverstone.http://www.lemans-series.com/data/course/2010/silv...

Best lap time around Silverstone by a Le Mans prototype was 1m43.475s in Qualifying by the Audi R15 TDi. Fernando Alonso drove the fastest F1 race lap and it was 1m30.874s. Vettel did a 1m29.615s in qualifying.

Round Le Sarthe I have no doubt the cars would be closer - the LMP1s would undoubtedly be slower for a lap, but due to the long periods of open throttle time, where the F1's better aero/brakes/acceleration will count for nothing, it wouldn't be as bad as a place like Silverstone, which compared to Le Sarthe is as twisty as a pile of spaghetti.http://www.lemans-series.com/data/course/2010/silv...

Not to mention that the F1 car wouldn't be able to complete the distance (even if they could refuel it )
